The latest job figures may be discouraging, but residents of some cities have overcome their economic woes to a greater degree than others. Recent Bureau of Labor Statistics figures show that, of 372 U.S. metropolitan areas, 224 had lower jobless rates in June 2011 than in June 2010. Of the 100 largest U.S. metropolitan areas, these are the 12 with the biggest decline in unemployment rates over that one-year period.
