Radio Shack announced a restructuring of its brand with a Super Bowl ad, but the retailer may be closing 500 of its 4,300 stores in the coming months, sources tell The Wall Street Journal.

Radio Shack made fun of its outdated image in the ad that aired during the game on Sunday, which featured a phone call saying, “It’s the ‘80s, they want their store back.”

Apparently the '80s didn’t want all of them.

The electronics retailer suffered from a competitive holiday shopping season with fewer store visits than in recent years, and it has tried to revamp a lackluster sales strategy focused on smartphones, the Journal reports. The company in January announced it was shifting from a “do it yourself” tech component store image to a “do it together” brand restructuring, emphasizing staff that help customers choose the latest entertainment, mobile and WiFi products.
