DEA Leader Fumes About White House Playing Softball With Marijuana Legalizers

Pro-pot group says Obama should fire anti-drug administrator for 'closed door' insubordination.

The Marijuana Policy Project says President Barack Obama should fire Drug Enforcement Administration leader Michele Leonhart, right, who reportedly got a standing ovation Jan. 22 after criticizing Obama during a closed-door meeting in Washington, D.C.

In addition to taking swipes at Obama's personal commentary on pot and the White House staff's after-hours gamesmanship, Leonhart reportedly took issue with another branch of government.

Leonhart said "her lowest point in 33 years in the DEA was when she learned they'd flown a hemp flag over the Capitol on July 4," Hodgson told the Herald. That decision was made by the Capitol Flag Office following a request from Rep. Jared Polis, D-Colo., a supporter of legalizing industrial hemp.

"Many of our Founding Fathers, including Thomas Jefferson and George Washington, grew hemp," Polis told ABC News at the time. "Many of the very first American flags were made from hemp cloths."
