The landscape for women – white women, anyway – is a little better in television, with supporting actor winner Jon Voight thanking his (female) showrunner, Ann Biderman, for "Ray Donovan." Other nominated television shows coming from the minds of female creators include "Girls," "Scandal," "New Girl" and "Masters of Sex."
Another bright spot is 27-year-old super-producer Megan Ellison, a girl with a golden touch, whose name is attached to "American Hustle" and "Her," as well as recent awards show attention getters "Zero Dark Thirty" and "True Grit." She made it to the stage for the "American Hustle" best comedy or musical win, and got a shoutout from Spike Jonze for his "Her" best screenplay victory as well as from Adams in her best actress speech.
Fey and Poehler – both glass ceiling breakers in their own rights – are getting rightfully lauded for the second turn as hosts. But for all the fun they had mocking gender stereotypes in the entertainment industry, the symptoms of Hollywood sexism were still very much on display.
