An Atlanta Braves fan died after falling 65 feet from an upper-level railing of Turner Field onto a parking lot Monday night, the second fan fatality in the city in less than a year.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Ronald Homer, 29, was transported to Atlanta Medical Center after the fall where he later died. The fall occurred shortly before the game between the Braves and the Philadelphia Phillies began at around 9 p.m. EST after a nearly two hour rain delay.

"At this time, there is no indication of foul play and the fall appears accidental," Atlanta police officer John Chafee said in an emailed statement, reported the Journal-Constitution.

Chafee said he did not know if weather or alcohol were factors in the fall, but the incident appeared to be accidental. Police were not releasing details of witness reports. Connie Homer, Ronald's mother, said her son, a life-long Braves fan, told her he was heading back inside the stadium after heavy rain delayed the game, which was scheduled to start at 7:10 p.m.

The fall is the third in Atlanta – the second to result in death – in less than a year. In September 2012, a man sustained non-fatal injuries after falling nearly 25 feet over a railing during the Georgia Tech-Miami University football game.

In late August 2012, a 20-year-old University of Tennessee fan fell over a railing to his death at the Georgia Dome during the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game between Tennessee and North Carolina State. The autopsy reported the fall as an accident and showed no signs of drugs or alcohol in the fan's system.

In May 2008, a 25-year-old Braves fan was killed after falling about 150 feet from an upper deck to the field level concourse behind home plate at Turner Field. Police ruled that alcohol was a factor in the fatal fall and the Braves said the incident was the first non-medical fatality at the stadium.
