Angelina Jolie tops the list of highest paid actresses, despite not starring in a film since 2011.

Angelina Jolie has earned $33 million this year despite not being in a film.

As others have noted, Angelina Jolie topped Forbes's list of highest paid actresses despite not having appeared in a movie since 2011's "The Tourist." (She also wrote and directed 2011's "In the Land of Blood and Honey," which made only $300,000 worldwide.) She is not the only actress whose star power alone can still pull in a hefty paycheck, even with a prolonged absence from the big screen. But Forbes's list also included some young up-and-comers who have proven they can carry their weight at the box office. Here is a look at what Hollywood's highest paid actresses are earning versus what their movies made in 2012, using data from Box Office Mojo.

Angelina Jolie

Earnings: $33 million

What her movies made: $0

Jolie hasn't been in a movie since 2011 "The Tourist," but according to Forbes, will see a big pay day for her involvement in the upcoming Disney Sleeping Beauty reboot, "Maleficent."

What her movies made: $967 million ("House at the End of the Street," "Silver Linings Playbook," "Hunger Games")

After her Oscar win for "Silver Linings Playbook," the money train hasn't stopped for Jennifer Lawrence, with additional installments of "The Hungers Games" and "X-Men" in the pipeline.

In addition to her 2012 hit "Ted," this year's "Oz The Great and Powerful" has made $490 million worldwide.
