Fans of the Bridget Jones franchise got something to hold them over until the October release of the latest book. The "Today" show revealed the third book in author Helen Fielding's beloved series will be titled "Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy." The publisher Alfred A. Knopf also released a short excerpt from the book, which promises that modern day technology and social media might cause some problems for its heroine:

11.27 p.m. Just presss d SEND. Iss fineisn't it?

You see, this is the trouble with the modern world. If it was the days of letter-writing, I would never even have started to find his address, a pen, a piece of paper, an envelope, a stamp, and gone outside at 11.30p.m. to find a postbox. A text is gone at the brush of a fingertip, like a nuclear bomb or exocet missile.

The book will reportedly be set in contemporary London, with Jones older, but presumably not all the more wiser. "My life has moved on and Bridget's will move on, too," Fielding said in a February statement announcing the book's release. "I hope people will have as much fun reading it, as I am writing it."

The first two books, "Bridget Jones's Diary" and "Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason," were wildly successful, selling more than 15 million copies worldwide. They also inspired two films — in 2001 and 2004, respectively — starring Renée Zellweger, Hugh Grant and Colin Firth.

"Mad About the Boy" will be available in print and e-book October 15 and can be pre-ordered now.
