Rubio and Ryan are thought to be top contenders for the presidency in 2016. Rubio leads a crowded GOP field, according to one poll released Thursday, with support from 18 percent of the Republicans surveyed. Ryan leads the field when it comes to overall favorability though, with about 75 percent of respondents saying they like him, according to the Public Policy Polling survey.
"Rubio's ahead because of his strength with the most conservative wing of the party. Among 'very conservative' voters he's at 23 percent to 17 percent for Paul Ryan and 13 percent for Mike Huckabee," writes Tom Jensen, PPP's polling director, in a memo accompanying the polling results.
