As Europe Threatens to Implode, America Shrugs

Fears of a eurozone collapse make for scary headlines and worries in Washington, but the American public isn't convinced

European workers are caught in a crisis that could hurt global recovery. Meanwhile, Americans' thoughts are elsewhere.

But should Europe slip further into crisis, reducing demand for U.S. goods and spreading financial contagion in the process, Americans could wake up quickly to European problems.

"The reality will be different if they start to have some kind of real-world effects that have something that impacts them," says Jacobe.
