In the 1950s, as a nation we had 103 Trillion dollars in the Social Security Fund. What happened to all this money? Dipping and greed of the politians had depleted the fund. Let's look at the the situation realistically. Stop! funding all the other countries and the politicians pockets and put the money into the Social Secuity Fund. Strengthen our nation Let's bring jobs back home. Mr. Obama, I voted for you in the last election. Please Sir, come up with the programs of the FDR days and created the jobs necessary to bring back pride in the country. We are loosing the battle, but we have not lost the war. I know it's a tough situation, but I have confidence in you. I'm a person who never gives up and neither should you. God Bless America!

I am also a member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives disturbed by the repeated attacks on the disability program. I hope we will let the disabled become victims of misinformation or Washington political fights over the federal budget. If you pay into the Social Security system, you earn the right to its benefits. The denial or extreme delay of benefits to those who qualify for SSDI is an injustice, which claimant’s representatives can help to address. Protecting Social Security Disability Insurance is about keeping a promise to help all Americans, regardless of their means, age, or disability. Social Security Disability Insurance remains a vital lifeline for citizens who once held full-time jobs but have become too ill or injured to work.

I am a member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives, and am disturbed by the attacks on those individuals who can no longer work due to illness or injury. Protecting Social Security Disability Insurance Benefits is about keeping a promise to help all Americans, regardless of their means, age or disability. Social Security Disability Insurance Benefits remains a vital lifeline for citizens who once held full time jobs, but have become too ill or injured to continue working. It is not a program being gamed by the lazy or unemployed.

While everyone agrees that the federal government can improve all entitlement programs and make the best use of taxpayer dollars, turning our backs on Americans with disabilities is not the place to start. Inadequate funding of Social Security Disability Insurance only pushes the problem to the states and local communities.

It’s a real shame that the Social Security Disability Insurance program has become a political football. This is a program that helps people who’ve paid into Social Security and earned the benefits but who have become disabled – either through an injury or a health condition – and can no longer work. Getting approved for disability can take years. The strains on the Social Security system – the aging Baby Boomers, the increase of women working and more people surviving once fatal medical conditions – shouldn’t be blamed on disabled Americans who need support. While we can all agree that the government can improve all of the entitlement programs and make better use of our tax dollars, turning our backs on disabled Americans is not the place to start. Member of National Organizatiion of Social Security Representatives.

this is just irresponsible. The SS trust funds have been the number one willing lender to the US treasury; those days are gone. #2 is China. In order to cash in those IOUs, we must replace the #1 willing lender to the treasury.

timmy is on crack talking about '20' years-- that used to be 2041. That is the meaningless date at which the Boomer's kids will have finished being overtaxed a second time to pay back the bonds that represent the overtaxation of the Boomers the first time, during the peal of the earnings and taxpaying years. As an economist, Timmy is an outstanding expert on Asian Studies.
