I suspect that the pollution per customer is about the same for big or small companies. It would be much easier to get one company to support more sustainable operations than hundreds. I dont like monopolies but it might be easier to regulate one company than many. Those that serve more customers are going to get more heat do to visability.
I do not expect wallmart to be significantly more environmentally freindly than their competitors as they must compete. Until we have national/global standards for respecting the ability of the earth to sustain life nothing will change much.

Walmart still kills about a zillion trees a year, keeping tons of personnel and financial reports (cash register receipts for God's sake) from their stores. I worked for a 50-employee small business 10 years ago that went to 100% electronic document storage, why can't the hypocrite Walmart.
Hard drive real estate is cheap, paper is pitifully wasteful and archaic.

WROTE A NOTE TO WAL-MART A COUPLE OF WEEK'S AGO, ABOUT THE WAL-MART AT EXIT 7 IN BRISTOL ,VA, SEVERAL THINGS THEY ARE AND HAVE BEEN OUT OF FOR SEVERAL WEEKS, AND I'VE ASKED ABOAUT THEM, FOR LENGTH'S SAKE WON'T GO INTO THAT AGAIN!!!! THEY STILL DO NOT HAVE THE GV TONIC WATER DIET OR ANYTHING ELSE I'M SO TIRED OF GOING THERE HOPING I CAN DO ALL MY SHOPPING AT ONE PLACE AND I HAVE TO GO TO THE FOOD CITH JUST DOWN THE STTREET FROM THEM!! DO NOT LIKE IT ,,, AM NOT A HAPPY SHOPPER..............PLEASE /.. GET THEM ON THE BALL. I KNOW FAORM EXPERIENCE THAT ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS ORDER IT!!!! MPLEASE MHELP ME !!! RUBY ASBURY
