SOUNDS LIKE "BIG BROTHER" TO ME!!! They are going to have their way until the end. We no longer have our rights and they are not justified! This Country is going to "H33L" in a "Hand Basket!" We need to pray for our younger generation growing up in this Country as it is now! They are in for a long ride for their rights and justice!!!

Everyone pretty much agrees that the cows still belong to the owner, not the land holder on whose property the cows strayed.

Based solely on a news report (probably not the best source), the cows were strays, not stolen. Domestic animal ownership does not change merely because an animal strays onto the land of another.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, the law concerning domestic animals is not the same as for wild animals. And unless changed by statute, the criminal law does not recognize a strayed animal as a "stolen" animal even if the owner refused to return it because that is the tort of conversion, a civil wrong, not always a crime.

There was no right to keep the cows but that may not be a crime but rather a civil wrong, for which the owner could sue for damages or an injunction to return the cows.

If the cows caused damage, the land owner could ask a court for a lien on the cows to satisfy any court judgement for the trespass on his property but he can't keep the cows for himself.

"This is another reason why NOBODY in the USA in this day and age should be able to own guns, except the military and those in law enforcement." --RUTHBARNES of CA

What a DOLT! Madam, if the founders had that same attitude, you'd still be sipping expensively taxed tea. People without guns are subject to the TYRANNY of the Government as expressed by our Founders who were quite a bit more brighter and enlightened than you, Ruthy baby. Go bake some hash brownies now . . .

The Bill of Rights was written to protect creeps, wingnuts, and kooks from being burned alive by government witch hunters. It was also written with the idea that it is better to let 10 guilty men go free than to imprison 1 innocent guy, so we have a presumption of innocence.

Whether the guy is guilty or innocent of a crime is up to the courts, but enforcing our constitutional rights is the duty of every American. If you leave that duty to government, it's like putting the wolf in charge of safeguarding the chickens. And for people who don't care about constitutional rights, you are the chickens and the wolf is hungry.

my question is this: Is his land "Soverign"? Did he formally detach from the US? If he had legally created himself as a "Soverign Nation" (numerous of these inthe US including Bishop's Castle in the US), then the cows are his...and the police are "invaders"....as weird as that seems, local law enforcement cannot go onto his property at that point and all matters must be arbitrated un US Federal Court...If he is just a nutjob that grabbed his rifle and yelled' "GET OFF MY LAND YOU EVIL GOVMENT TYPES"...then he is looking at some real time...with really sensitive bunkmates...

wow!!! so our future/present plight is in the hands of robots. Isnt this supposed to be only in the movies??? Not that this maniac should take law into his own hands. Just the whole scenario.

And if the drones malfunction??? Well that will be "too bad"" right. Oh well" sorta like the cost isin comparison to what the benefits are?

If it were your home/family/loved one who were lost/affected it might not be "Oh Well"

@RUTHBARNES

You're right, let's have only the military and plice own guns so that we become victims of our won government. We have guns in this country to fight back against tyranny!!!

So...this guy tries to keep the property of another (also known as theft) and intimidates law enforcement with a firearm. Any you wing nuts are taking up for HIM????????

Nate of WV 2:04PM April 11, 2012

Sorry Mr. Bossart, the police had a search warrent. The drone was just a tool used to pinpoint your actual location on your property. What if the police had used a piloted high flying aircraft and a long range infrared camera to locate you? What would be the difference? Had they used the drone to just fly around observing people and then tried to arrest them for perceived wrongdoing, THEN you would have an arguement.

ConservativeBeaner of CA 1:54PM April 11, 2012

I say use the drones and any other technology there is, to keep us safe. The conspiracy nuts, militia groups and the so called sovereign citizens are the real dangers.
