They're not called drones. I really hate the media for calling them drones. Now everyone ignorantly calls them that. Drones are something completely different in the military aviation world.

Actually, the problem is with the sheriff. The sheriff is the only other elected law enforcement official in the US, besides the president. The sheriff has the reponsibility to insure that the constifution is followed in his county, and that includes insuring the feds act within the constitution. The sheriff has the authority to prevent feds from entering his county and usurping his authority. Now, if the people of the county want fed intrusions into their lives and onto their property, then they should keep on re-electing this sheriff. If the people of the county don't like this fed intrusion, then they should vote in a new sheriff, until they find one who can read the constitution. If the sheriff wants to use his own drone, that's another story, but I think the "victim" in this case has a case with some "legs."

Drones are getting cheaper and cheaper these days. They can be operated for long periods of time at low cost for many tasks including search and rescue. They can also be flown in high risk situations where it would be unsafe to send a pilot. With longer ranges and flight times, they can cover larger ares so fewer would be needed.

according to a 2010 UAV analysis the per hour cost of a drone was $3234.00 that is one costly program to use for tracking a man on his farm. here is the analysis report http://securitydebrief.com/2011/02/02/predator-uav-costs-an-analysis-of-alternatives-that-needs-further-analysis/

People who are "sovereign citizens" aren't "anti-government" they are pro-liberty. Government just happens to be the ones trying to take your liberties through force and violence and color of law. Sovereign citizens are just trying to protect those liberties.

There is a convergence between "police" and "military" capabilities which began with the SWAT concept. The police state will use any means at its disposal to control the people.
I suspect the next step will be to pass laws prohibiting us from shooting at the drones when they fly overhead. There is a view that argues the Second Amendment permits the People to possess the same weapons as the govement. After all, what the hell good would a Militia be without adequate arms.
We live in interesting and dangerous times.

To "DUDE of OR": Posse Comitatus? Don't you remember that the Posse Comitatus restrictions were "relaxed" by the so-called Patriot Act? Didn't you know that you are living in a totalitarian country?

All this over 6 cows..Those drones don't fly around for free. A helicopter would have been easier to obtain and cheaper to use. A population of 66,xxx and being in north dakota where everything and every one is a thousand miles apart it makes perfect sense to have a helicopter as it can serve multiple roles as where the drone has one basic role. Not to mention the cost comparison of a drone (up to 10mil) to copter. All that a side. Why didnt they just call him ask if he had the cows, ask for him to turn them over or we'll make you pay for them.

Who isn't anti-government and these days? If you work for the government, you're likely part of the problem.
