I think at this point if someone America knows and loves ran on the independant ticket, they would win the presidental election and slap the republican and democratic party in the face. Americans I talk to are sick of the same old, same old and are looking for a new representive.

The ideologies of both sides are stale, out-of-date with today. Both sides go to extremes and we need a system that will try and look down the middle of the road. The political disrespect is disgusting; the fact that the right is so prejudice against this President, and the left are so determined to give away the farm, there is no winning for the middle.

Americans Elect seems to represent a new way for all of us to participate in the political process with equal power. The more of us who join and submit our views and candidate preferences the sooner we can say goodbye to dysfunctional party politics!

Andy Smith reminds us that Ross Perot ended the election with 19% of the vote but forgets that before the Perot campaign self-destructed, Perot was leading both President Bush and Bill Clinton. If Americans Elect can nominate a pragmatic moderate who will not self-destruct, the current groundswell could become a political tsunami.

The strength of the 2 party system is based upon ideology. History has not been kind to 3rd party candidates, the American voter has an opportunity to send a message to both parties that the ideology of old politics, self gratification and the rhetoric of divisiveness has to change and that is where Americans Elect comes into the picture

Americans Elect is the opportunity for millions of Americans to vote for the candidate that they believe will best serve the country not a party or a faction of a party.

Americans Elect, is not a party, Americans Elect does not select nor endorse a candidate, but the voters/delegates who have joined across the country will. Americans Elect voters want leadership, not ideology, they want problem solvers not problem makers, and they a candidate who will answer questions, honestly and intelligently.

Americans Elect is about having a voice in the election, not in a scripted party message. It is about challenging the political system of predetermined candidates and their decision making process.

The American voter may be dissatisfied with the political process, but his actions speak louder than words. "I am afraid to leave the comfort of my party". You can bemoan the problems and the gridlock but if you cannot see that both parties aren't going to solve the problem, why moan. You are part of the problem. If the process is to change then the voter must step up and take charge. Americans Elect is the opportunity to take charge.
