Would love to see a brokered convention. Would be very entertaining, but what if they pick somebody who hasn't run? Really want the media to handle the vetting process? Not to mention where would the get out the vote organizaton be?
Democrats would be fools if they really think they have this next election in the bag. So much time left between now and November.

Democracy is messy. With a people's revolt in progress to return our foreign policy to peaceful coexistence and our citizens to the civil liberties bled for by our ancestors, no one will expect a packaged ceremoney at the convention leading to more wars and repressions of American citizens.
As the people more and more are joining with Dr. Paul, both major parties will fade with the harmful battle cries of more bombs and more taxing and more borrowing and more government spending.
A rare gift of truth and freedom and peace is riding on the wind. Catch it.

Amongst friends of mine, I predicted a brokered convention back in June 2011.
And contrary to the pundits, the GOP will actually be better off with a picking a candidate in Tampa for the following reasons:
(1) Get a new candidate by definition.
(2) Imagine the attention of the country being glued to the TV set if it goes multiple ballots.
(3) We'll get a candidate that both the establishment and tea party can actually live with.
(4) The Dems won't be as prepared for it.
(5) It's a lot easier to mount a campaign for 9 weeks than 18 months - less negative attacks.

Since GOP voters in primaries so far (and in endless polls elsewhere) have made it clear that the GOP as a whole has NO IDEA WHAT IT'S DOING with respect to the presidential general election, why would anyone want to entrust that party with more control of government on any level? It's time to oust the Tea Party people now in any/all elected offices for their crowd's demonstrated chaos and incompetence.
Also, a shout-out of agreement here with the first posted comment. I always admire those who have studied the GOP and then decided to leave it.

Ahhh Grover Norquist...the man the GOP sold their soul to. After 35 years of being a Republican I left the party and Norquist was part of the reason. Representative government signed pledges to one man. It is treason by our Representatives in Congress who have taken an oath to uphold the US Constitution that lays out our representative democratic republic. No representation when you have signed a pledge to one person.
