No, it's not new at all. It's called "agriculture."

Photosynthesis is not an "energy-creating process." That would violate the First Law of Thermodynamics.

Under exceptionally favorable circumstances, plants capture and store about 1% of the solar energy that hits them, so I don't know why they call it "one of the most efficient [...] processes."

I'm a plant biologist and I'm as pro-plant as can be, but you have to get the facts right or you can't make it work.
