When are people going to realize that all welfare payments should be stopped immediately?

For those truly unable to support themselves an updated version of the workhouse - where those honestly incapable of caring for themselves could be housed and fed - should be implemented.

It is absurd and obscene that the tax money of working people is taken away and given to those who will not work to spend as they like on whatever they like. When is it going to end?

I think it's a good idea, every casino and strip club I've used has had at least a $10 ATM surcharge. Who does the surcharge benefit? The ATM owners. It's diminished benefits for the welfare recipients at the expense of those who work and pay taxes, and the only ones to benefit are the people who own the ATMs. Using ATMs at strip clubs and casinos is pure laziness. Anybody with half a brain goes prepared with enough cash. Besides, if the dole receivers want to spend my, and fellow tax payers' money for something that does not help to alleviate the pressures of impoverishment, then they should have to be made to jump through some hoops, and expend some effort.

IT is not their money they are spending. It is my money. I work to earn a paycheck. 22% of that check is taken out for the various taxes I pay. That mean from 8-10:30 I am working, but making nothing and a portion of that is going to this assistance. I don't care it its inconvienent for someone to get this assistance. It should be. You can't really claim its a hardship if you must spend 30 minutes to go somewhere to collect FREE money. Even if its only $20, which its not, that means you are effectivly making $40 an hour and all you are doing is going to the bank.

We should do everything we can to ensure this money, as well as any other money they have, is not "wasted" on 100% unneeded things. If you have enough to spend on liquor, beer, and tobacco, then you should not need any help. I definately think we should drug test, including for tobacco, because, if you get help, I/we are effectily paying for this potentially illigal habbit.

I even think we should ban them from buying bags of chip, candy, soda, etc. As well as high end products such as primium steaks, shrimp and the like. I can't always afford such nice products so why should I help someone else buy them. I am fine helping with basic necessities, but not luxury items Including iPhones (any Apple product for that matter), Preimium cable, large, new HD & 3D TVs (a older, used, small one works just fine), Game systems, and anything else that it not considered essential to preserve life. Especially if I must forgo them to stay within budget. Unfortunately, I do not forsee a way to do this but you can test them and limit where they can get cash with the card.

I am also tired of hearing cases where their section 8/low income housing provides ammenities above and beyond what I could afford in an apartment simply because I actually make enough money to live off of. Just recently, I think it was in CT, I read about a new apartment building for very low income that provided a gym, a pool, doorman, recreation room and roof terrace. If I wanted all that I would need to make 15-20% more than I do now, and they get it for less than I would have to pay for an apartment in a building with ZERO such ammenities. And that is before I need to pay for a gym membership. Does that sound fair to anyone. I work to have money taken out in taxes to pay for other people to afford something that I can not just because so much is taken out in taxes. It's no wonder some, not all, of these people are not motivated to work harder because, if their income goes up, they will be off assistance and need to actually give up a few LUXURIES.

How idiotic do you have to be to fall for this?

This is not a real problem folks. It is nothing but a distraction from the real issues. "ATM's at strip clubs!!" It might invite commoners to get indignant, but it is not a real issue.

ChocoCat of CA 10:00AM February 02, 2012

Your taxes directly to a strippers g string, please make your payments to the IRS on time or be put in jail.

Harvey of FL 9:57AM February 02, 2012

What a drag ! now I will have to go to the ATM next door to the strip club to blow my welfare check

Jerry of FL 9:53AM February 02, 2012

I don't understand why they can get cash anywhere. Don't the cards work at the grocery stores? What's wrong drug dealers don't take plastic.

Did you ever in your wildest dreams think you would be reading a story like this. Welfare reform is very badly needed.

Laraine of TX 9:28AM February 02, 2012

It really is hopeless
