Unions are just like the "Affirmative Action" BS. They require companies to employee someone who isn't necessarily the best-qualified person for the job, because of WHO THEY ARE, not WHAT THEY KNOW.
Would the automakers have needed a bailout if they were able to hire similarly-capable non-union workers, for HALF the union-wages, and fire the ones who were refusing to work?
Workers' rights, and criminals' rights, are drastically in need of an overhaul in this country!!! (You WORK for what I'm offering, or go look for another job... It's a free country...) (I mean, it's not slavery! You can do the work for what's offered, or go somewhere else!! If you can't "afford" to go somewhere else, maybe you should shut up and do your job, while someone is offering to pay you for it!!!

Well, forgive me, then for speaking out of ignorance. But, since unions are so wonderful for the worker, why are you concerned about “right to work”? If unions really work to the advantage of the worker, they will see no decrease in membership. You still have a right to be in a union. “Right to work” just ensures that an employee who doesn’t want to join a union doesn’t have to...that’s called “freedom”.
I expect that within a year you will start to see your union start acting on your behalf. Knowing that they don’t have a lock on your wages, they will start to work in your true interest for their portion. As a result, you and your coworkers will keep the money flowing to them. However, when your union starts to act in ways that are detrimental to them, such as shoveling money into political coffers of candidates the workers don’t support, or strangling the employer, that membership will start to fade away. This is called “accountability”, and my sincere hope is that you and all of my fellow Hoosier workers will benefit from that. God bless you.

Being a 53 year old union ship builder with 23 years seniority, I know that my wages, benefits, and job security will be a thing of the past. The hardships that the republican party are bringing down on the hard working Hoosier families is shameful. I pray the November election will be a time of celebration in unseating them all. God Bless all of you hard working union brothers and sisters.

Jeff Arnold is obviously uneducated and ignorant of the facts in this debate! I'm union and I've taken plenty of time off work, and I haven't received a penny for it. As a matter of fact I've lost out on hundreds of dollars, but sometimes standing up for what you believe in requires sacrifice. http://www.facebook.com/events/325410400832322/

Well, it's certainly clear that writers for the AP are union. Look at the language used in this article, as if somehow it was advantageous to workers that they be forced to shovel their hard-earned wages into the coffers of Big Labor and Organized Crime. Wisconsin and Ohio "passed laws stripping most public sector unions of collective bargaining rights"? Give me a break...people are onto this runaway system whereby public employees, through their mandatory membership unions, hand over oodles of cash to politicians, who turn around and vote for fat raises and benefits on their behalf. What a scam! Well, you can call in sick and spend a week bally-hooing on the State House lawn, neglecting your duties while receiving full pay, but this privilege is quickly coming to an end! I am proud to be a Hoosier!
