Obama Administration Quietly Altering Military's Global Presence

Obama is a Coward. His idea of America is a disgrace. He in my opinion is not an American citizen, he is the biggest Con-Man on the face of the earth. No one will stand up to him in any capacity as they are afraid of offending him and being labeled a racist

It is all part of the Obama plan.

What a joke this country is becoming. Letting a Marxist tell us what to do. We are in a world of hurt with Obama at the helm and listening to his faithful LEMMINGS.

Well screw him. He is a bigger threat to our Country than Bin Ladin could ever have been.

Obama out 2012 or America dies. It's that plain and simple. Grow up Obama Lemmings. Think for yourself or be a looser all your life.

That is it.

Wouldn't it be a better idea to just stage operations from US territory? Just saying...

The world has changed dramatically since WWII. Many overseas force level/bases really are hard to justify while new ones are needed,

Korea comes to mind - why are we still there. Same with Germany and England. I am sure there are many more - I have a hard time understanding why we need much-if anything-in Europe. With their economic problems nobody wants to invade them anyway :> :>

Conversely, if Africa is considered to be really important we do need more presence there.

And, for god's sake, if we are not going to try to win lets leave Afghanistan and other areas in the gulf. Fighting a holding war is stupid.

At least Iraq wasn't split into a North and South Iraq....like Korea or Vietnam. Plus there were just 4,483 killed in Iraq. Iraq seems more like minor skirmish compared to the following real wars.

World War I

116, 516 dead

World War II

405,399 men dead

Korean War

53,686 men dead

Vietnam War

58,209 men dead

Obama is focused on Iran. Clearly shades of Iraq when Bush asked the United Nations inspectors to inspect Sadam Hussein for nuclear weapons. The UN inspectors said "nope, we've found none." But in the end Bush said "with or without UN blessings or permission I'm sending troops into Iraq." Now Obama is saying the identical thing about Iran. Whenever there is an invasion of a sovereign country always remember that there is a reason. For mean ol' Noriega in Panama it was the importance of the Panama Canal. And for most of the Arab countries...its oil, Texas tea. Guys like Russia and China are a little harder to bully around.

OPEC members hold around 75% of world crude oil reserves and energy does make the world go round and round. The countries with the largest oil reserves are, in order, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Venezuela, Russia, Libya, Kazakhstan and Nigeria. Now where are all our military troops?

The real threat is a nuclear holocaust. The main players are the U.S., Russia, and China. Please don't believe the nonsensical Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) of 1968. If you do then you probably believe in the tooth fairy as well. Imagine radiation wiping out all living creatures on earth, contaminating the air, land and waters of the earth. I don't know who will be the winner. But I do know that we will all be losers. As long as all countries of the world continue with their quest for power and control.....the threat of a nuclear holocaust is real...the only question is when.

US was not elected the sheriff of the world and should keep it in their pants. The best way to avoid any "terrifying terrorists?" quit being a jackass and meddling on everyone's elses business

Nobody is "envious" of american "liberties" cos guess what? US has NO liberties less you mean consuming what the corps make for you and getting to choose the color.

The right to their own privacy was gone with "Patriot Act" and further c**pped on by the NDAA.

But maybe that makes too much of sense to those useless old bloodsuckers sitting on congress and making a lot of money off on the fabricated terrorist scare >.<

I love it when the highly ignorant rant about the need for us to keep soldiers garrisoned in someone else's country- something that they would oppose on American soil. The Italians and Koreans for sure are ready for us to go and more than a few of the Germans.

It's expensive and does very little for us more than could be accomplished with a far less expensive exercise schedule. In my younger days I held a Top Secret clearance and served at a major HQ in Europe in the 1980's during the huge Reagan buildup. We now know that Reagan's people and supporters spent truckloads of money we didn't need to during that time as the Warsaw Pact was rotting internally.

Do we really need to learn that lesson all over again?

Europe has not been under threat since 1991, the idea of having large land forces based in Europe against a non-existant threat is a nonsese, and attacking Obama for finally recognising that seems nonsenical, If the GOP think it is a winning strategy then why not campaign to send more US troops to any one dozens of countries round the world were there is no immediate threat but the countries are willing to host US bases if the US taxpayer is willing to fund it!
