The speech was earnest and cited relevant economic circumstances. There needs to more cooperation and fidelity to representing our interests, rather than those of party, in Congress. And, among other populist notions, a basic theme was sounded - "When you have enough, you share" - especially when many of your advantages have been created by governmental (tax, regulatory) policies that you've had the income or related leverage to to benefit from. The president praised our strengths and opportunities, and levied criticism and shared strategies as if a coach trying to inspire a team not playing to its potential as well as being hamstrung by unfair rules and dirty play. The Republican crowd was inspired by his unfiltered approach. Obama's record is without much skulduggery and deceit, so people may fault his policies and even methods of influence in D.C., but he's essentially trustworthy, and as he hones his message he will be believed, especially when matched against the current frontrunners on the Republican ticket. The aversion to the man, for whatever reason, should not obscure what is sound in his proposals and the need for a believable leadership in the Executive.

I can only hope that Obama follows through and drops his Woodrow Wilson persona in exchange for Teddy Roosevelt. Stop the bi-partisian game which has netted US citizens nothing and become TR before its too late.

As shown in this article, the Congressional Budget Office found that banking industry executives, managers, supervisors and financial professionals accounted for 60 percent of the increase in income accruing to the top 1 percent in America between 1979 and 2005:

Apparently, too much is never enough of a good thing for the top of the income heap in the United States.

When I think about the tens of millions he's taken from Wall Street to fund his campaign, I begin to feel sorry for the left wingers who so often use the word hypocrisy, obviously without understanding its meaning.

When I think about the hundreds of millions he re-paid to those who supported him last year through Dept of Energy guaranties, I feel frustrated that we have such a huge segment of our society unable to grasp the significance of pay offs for favors rendered.

When I hear Obama talking about the injustices happening in our country, I just want to ask him where he was for 75% of his Presidency.

Where was he when we racked up as much of a deficit increase in three years as Bush did in 8?

Where was he when our debt was downgraded for the first time in history?

Where was he when we reached record numbers of bankruptcies, foreclosures, and unemployment?

Where was he when we doubled the number of uninsured after signing Obamacare?

He knows right where he is today. He's got months to go to try to keep his job. His biggest problem is that running on his record would be politically fatal.

So the new ploy is to convince the millions of unemployed, that he's created, to look to the wealthy for an extension of their free ride. That if the wealthy don't pony up, it's their fault that the poor are hungry.

Of course the billions wasted on his green crusade won't be available for the poor.

So poor and middle class, Obama last campaigned on a platform of fixing things for all of America.....all of America has suffered greatly for his actions. He has now singled you out for special attention.

You have a millionaire living a billionaire life style telling you he's looking out for your best interests while at the same time defunding Social Security and increasing your health care costs.

Good luck.

I sincerely hope Obama follows-through with actual policies that help strengthen the middle class in this country, should he get re-elected. I fear what removing "all barriers to job creation" might look like to a Republican-lead administration, and have a feeling their goal is to simply reduce our quality of living and common-sense regulations in order to compete with other industrialized nations who have no such luxuries. Getting paid $4/hr to work in an Apple assembly plant for 14hr shifts is not how I see America "competing", nor should that ever count as "job creation".

By creating a business environment that makes this country "jobs-friendly", Republicans are

laying the groundwork for a very strong middle class.

Our freemarket system is envied by the rest of the world -- Obama doesn't realize this.
