Keep the FED, get rid of their some of their powers. That means give Congress back the right to print money and eliminate their ties with the banks. Make them work for the taxpayer instead of for the banks against the taxpayer. Let's face it, anyone with half a brain would realize we have this debt because of the FEDs. They were formed to protect the profits of the banks.
JFK saw this and tried to do something. Unfortunately we know what happened there. Someday someone is going to connect the dots and the whole monetary system will come crumbling down. It needs to be fixed before it's too late.

Dump The Fed to which we pay INTEREST on every buck. Their 100 year tenure is up in 2013!!! They should be our ACCOUNTANT/ADVISER ONLY! We would be able to get rid of 16 TRILLION in debt in about a year+ and drastically lower income tax for everyone! Investigate a slow return to silver/commodities to back the dollar and examine the increase of fractional reserve banking %.
Stop occupying/fighting in 25 countries (or whatever the number is today) and bring our men home, let them work on the Mexican border. If we do find ourselves in another country again, stop rebuilding it, that is the cost of our being there and pissing us off. Shrink our forces some since being larger than the next 14 countries under us is overkill.
Legalize weed since it never killed anyone, unlike the 40,000 a year due to alcohol. That should save lives and raise revenue and lead to lower healthcare costs.
Leverage our market slowly to bring jobs INTO America by making it a Federal Law that any imports to the USA must be manufactured only by companies adhering to OSHA and our environmental laws when it comes to resources. We do that with rare woods already. While it would be a lot of paperwork for us, we have to certify each aspect of manufacture and resources collection. (Do you really think workers in other countries will bitch?) These actions will increase the cost for goods here WHILE producing more jobs here. We may actually have to SAVE for somethings like our parents did and it will spawn more work in repairing many items and keep us less likely to be such a throw away society. Ending The Fed isn't the be all but it sure is a good start to an overall plan! That's my 2 cents!

just ending the fed and the reestablishment of the gold standard isn t enough, greenback prinining b y the govenment could be allowed for some additional flexability, but there have to be restraints as the people in government tend to be criminals and take advantage of every instance. haave to eliminate the income tax as it has not worked and massively cut governmnet, government hasn t done any thing positive with social programs and they just need elimination, further the monied dynasties are a major problem, i have no problem with people accumulating their wealth in theri lifetimes and being to use it as they please, but upon the death of the second spouse, the state should then be the benfactor of the estae for all the services if any the state provided the couple, roads should still be funded i guess by a gas tax, but lets get real at half the cost of the present we should have 2 time the quality of current roads

We should abolish the Federal Reserve for the simple reason that it violates the Constitution. Its primary charge -- regulating the monetary supply, setting the value of money, and controlling interest rates -- is a violation of Article 1, Section 8.
