Honestly, if you base your report on how safe is the sea to swim in (re-Ivory Coast) or not, i would really doubt about the obectivity and quality of your report!!!

A citizen of Abidjan since 2001 until now, and hopefully longer.

Having been in IRAQ for the last 3 years working and traveling to other Middle East cities, BAGDAD is ALOT safer to travel through than KUWAIT CITY! As an American, when you go through Kuwait it is filthy and you have a large potential of human trafficing and kidnapping.

At least in Bagdad you can find friendlies and people who dont hate Americans. Kuwait is one step above Saudi Arabia in restrictions and they loathe how Americans have used their country. Bagdad has international historical landmarks and the airport security and tourism is coming back as the infrastructure in the country is being developed. Kuwait is dirty and out dated. If your visa is not done properly, you WILL be taken into custody and have to use the US EMBASSY to validate your reasons for being there.

I have just moved back to Quito Ecuador after living in Abidjan during the Post Electoral Crisis. During the crisis, I was able to walk in Abidjan with my laptop on my hands on my way back home, during the evening. I cannot do that even if there is peace anywhere in South America.

Abidjan has modern infrastructure and life is easier for an expat there than in Accra, the beacon of stability in the region. Mercer does a lousy job as a consulting firm.
