Obama makes me sick. I cant believe the state of our nation. Change..... Bill and Bob can now be recognized federally as married. Now I pay more taxes to this "married" couple. Rot in hell...

Thanks to DOMA legally married same-sex military spouses are denied health insurance, commissary and other base privileges, housing allowance, etc. as compared with their opposite-sex married counterparts. For those interested – http://OUTmilitary.com has been providing a supportive environment for friending, sharing and networking between Gay active military, vets and supporters since December, 2010.

Actually, letting gay folks marry is a job creator! Those folks will pay a fortune on their weddings. Then there will be the divorces, more job creation!

To my friend Bob. Yes, marriage has always been between a man and a woman, the good news is it still will be. Just be adding some folks.

Besides why deny gay people the misery of marriage and divorce that heterosexuals have?

The truth is, marriage should be banned for everybody. It is an old archaic institution that has out-lasted its usefullness.

Ridiculous...the GOP has never focused on creating new jobs...instead this is the kind of fiscal waste they put their efforts into. I want to know exactly what the GOP has done in the House in the last 288 days. Maybe instead of focusing on trying to tell people who they can or cannot marry...they should be focusing on trying to improve the economy.

Bob -- denying equal treatment under the law to same-gender couples and their families is what is destructive. Granting them equal treatment only makes life better for them, and doesn't do anything destructive to anyone else. You've got it exactly backwards ... the objection here is the spending of money to perpetuate discrimination that is demonstrably destructive to a minority and beneficial to nobody.

Marriage has ALWAYS been between a man and a woman. We are going to start defending what is right instead of allowing them to be corrupted by those wanting to destroy what is good. The days are gone when we will let them be destroyed an inch at a time- if you don't like the cost, stop pushing to change what is good. Our country can not survive allowing these changes any more.

Why isn't this money being spent to revitalize the economy? The GOP is proving it is far better at wasting government money than the Democratic party.

@Mary -- your comment about the 10th Amendment doesn't mesh very well with certain historical realities ... like the US Supreme Court case (Loving v. Virginia) that overturned laws against interracial marriage in 16 states. That case was argued largely on the basis of the 14th Amendment.

Institution of marriage? You should look up the history of marriage. It didn't start out as nn institution of love, but as of barter and trade, when women were treated like cattle. Institution of marriage? You mean the one that has a 50 percent failure rate? You mean the one where the percentage of people marrying is on the decline? Personally, I don't believe there should be any legal or governmental intrusions on marriage. It should strictly be a religious procedure. Any legal partnerships can be drawn up by any attorney if you want to go that route.

I have to admit my friend you made me laugh. I'm suspecting you're one of those folks that wants lower taxes and cut spending, but not on your sacred cows!

I might add, you will persuade more people with honey than vinegar. Calling Dems Nazis is just a bad reflection on you and, historically, completely inaccurate. Most Nazi's in this country actually identify themselves with the Pub party. Look it up. It's sad, but true.
