Economy Keeps Global Warming on Back Burner for 2012

Mr. Arrak is anxious that you read his book; reading his book will bring him with more money, but what is it doing to those of you who must live in a polluted and failing environment?" In case you are too lazy or too incompetent to read it, this article proves that Arctic warming is not caused by the greenhouse effect. It started suddenly at the beginning of the twentieth century, after a two thousand year period of slow cooling. There was no parallel increase of atmospheric carbon dioxide as required by the laws of physics of the greenhouse effect, and this leaves us looking for an alternate source of warming. It is highly likely that the warming started as a result of a rearrangement of North Atlantic current system at the turn of the century that began directing warm water of the Gulf Stream into the Arctic. The warming paused for thirty years in mid-century, then resumed, and is still going strong. You cannot turn greenhouse warming on and off like that. Direct measurements of water temperatures reaching the Arctic in 2010 showed that Arctic water temperatures exceeded anything seen within the last 2000 years. As for making money out of my book, I wish it were true. You would be wise to spring for it because you would be rewarded by learning some real climate science.

It is astounding to me that the evidence of global pollution and global warming are at emergency levels already, and the Republican Party has cleverly managed to convince millions of Americans that they are in no danger whatsoever. The heads of NASA, investigative journalists, and technical research and scientific research agencies that report to the U.S. Government, assure us that global warming is leading nations to disaster, and we have people who are convinced that political parties determine what is real and what is not.
Arno Arrak needs to lead us to all of his actual "research" on global warming. What are you scientific credentials, Arno Arrak? Mr. Arrak is anxious that you read his book; reading his book will bring him with more money, but what is it doing to those of you who must live in a polluted and failing environment? Do NOT be mislead. Research on your own. Learn research skills and help reverse Earth's fatal course. Do not forget that humans have been charged with taking care of this Earth, and we are not staying true to God's command when we do not do our best to keep the Earth in the best possible condition.
As an example: approximately 18 million people watch 60 minutes weekly. 60 minutes interviewed a corporate owner of a coal-burning facility that powers cities for electricity, and he announced on the 60 Minutes program that pollution and global warming are at crises levels, and America MUST act as soon as possible or this country will face disaster. At least 18 million people know "the score," but that will not be enough to save us.
There are over 200 million registered voters, but only 57% recognize that global warming MAY be a problem for the United States!? How on Earth do experts on this topic get through to those who would believe a "politician" but NOT believe what is obvious to all those who pay attention to credible research findings?
David M. Kahler, Ph.D: I am anxious to know why you applaud Newt Gingrich. What was your opinion of him when he continually announced that we needed to get rid of the EPA ? He, only recently, has talked about the presence of global warming, when he could see that the evidence was becoming too overwhelming to deny it. For all of the years he was in office and campaigning for one thing and another, Gingrich was a global warming/pollution denier. Doesn't that cause him to present himself as disingenuous? You do not mention that Obama never changed his belief in the presence of global warming and the dangers of pollution, but now you commend Gingrich? I do not get it.
If we do not aid the country in bettering this country's air, water, and land pollution, and do not aid this country from the resultant global warming, we are doomed within just 25 years! Do those who choose to believe a politician over a scientist ever consider what their children and grandchildren will face in the future?

It is sad that so many Republican candidates do not demonstrate the scientific understanding of climate change. I applaud Romney, Gingrich, Paul, and Johnson for recognizing the issue.

The bottom line appears to be that many people in the US believe the word of politicians over scientists.
Again, who would believe a politician over a scientist? More than you think.
Use some common sense, politicians are skilled at manipulating the truth while scientists are skilled at finding the truth.

The InterAcademy Council (IAC) 2010 review of the UN IPCC report found "many such statements that are not supported sufficiently in the literature" and need for "a rigorous conflict of interest policy" at the UN IPCC. Quotes from their 2010 report:
* "...problems derive partly from a failure to adhere to IPCC’s uncertainty guidance for the fourth assessment "
* "…authors reported high confidence in some statements for which there is little evidence" 
* "...making vague statements that were difficult to refute, authors were able to attach “high confidence” to the statements "

According to the National Academy of Sciences (2011) "Climate change is occurring, is very likely caused primarily by the emission of greenhouse gases from human activities, and poses significant risks for a range of human and natural systems. Emissions continue to increase, which will result in further change and greater risks.
