The expense problems would be addressed if (1) congress had to live by what they provide for the electorate, and (2) pays the same taxes.

Taxpayers won't be represented until there is public financing ONLY of campaigns. When politicians have to sell their souls to get campaign money, who do you think they will represent?

"You have to pay to play in the USA" just got a LOT worse after the Supreme(ly partisan) Court ruled against the Citizens United case.

Now special interests can buy all the politicians they want. The Court ruled that so can you, that makes it fair. So go ahead. Buy as many as you want. We'll just change the system name to MONocracy instead of DEMocracy.

How long will we tolerate that? When will we have the courage of the Tunesians, Libyans, et.al. to demand change? 'Til then money gets represented. Period.

It is time to close corporate tax loopholes that force the average taxpayer, both individuals and small business, to fund military efforts to make the world safe for global capitalism -- while the companies that benefit do not pay for this service. The deficit can only be reduced by making the corporations and the wealthy pay their fair share. If they paid what they spent on lobbyists and tax accountants, the deficit would not be such a problem.

We Democrats need to start standing up for our base as well. We have fought the fight to make this a better Country, we are not there yet, but Rep. Ryan wants to kill our Seniors in effort to give tax breaks to the rich and build the profits of insurance companies. Republicans want to raise the retirement age to 70, that is great for Congressmen, but not the bricklayer, stone mason, electrician, janitor, laborer and others who build America. If protections had been in place as there is now, I would not have damaged lungs from firefighting and construction, but Republicans want to remove these protections as well. Maybe a woman can help put the assault against womens health in proper prospective. Until you can have a baby, then stay out of the fight. If you are a christian, then only God has the right to judge, we each have to live our own lives as we feel right, not right for others.
