Why can't we all be theocrats instead of democrats, republicans or independents?? It would be a much nicer place to live in!!

Did you know that it was the Democrats who started the KKK and nearly succeeded in filibustering the Civil Rights Act? Or how about the fact that anarchists have always identified themselves as being from the left? Why does the left support gun control knowing that some of worst abusers of mankind.. ie. Hitler, Stalin, Idi Amin, Pol Pot, Mao Tse-tung, established themselves in power by disarming the people sending millions to their grave?
Lastly, why do some folks want to define race as a division of people of varying skin tone? The only division I know of is that of male and female. (Defined by working sexual organs) To me it sounds as if the left are the ones who are racist and obsessed with division.

Does being bitter really solve anything? Sounds to me like your choking on it. The fact that there is a propensity to lean in the direction of our own faith is of no concern to anyone except the one leaning. Your judgement of any individual is misguided because you cannot exempt yourself from the conclusion. So in more or less your own words.......... you are a hypocrite!

You seem to be a child concerning your understanding of scriptures. Caesar (government) is never meant to take the place of individual charity. That is why when you hear the scripture...... give to him that asked of "thee" and from him that would borrow of "thee", turn thou not away. It is speaking of the individual who can meet the need then and there. Nobody ever expects the tribute rendered to Caesar to be used as their good intention is often proclaimed. The devil himself maybe running the institution. Don't limit your perception of truth by being like the one who tried to tempt Jesus.
You need to stop placing you opinion as judge, jury and executioner to become a witness.

I won't say that the Right is alone in the following thought, but they seem to be much more susceptible to it then the Left. The politicians (and their followers, the voters) are loud hypocrites, saying one thing and doing the other. While hardly a 100% thing, I can more often count on a statement from the Right being an out and out proclamation of what the speaker wants YOU to do, while the speaker will generally do the opposite for himself and his family. This is apparently true on the subjects of sex, religion, taxation, racism, abortion, protection by the government, medical expenditures, and too many et ceteras for me to list here.
The "commenters" to this list are generally not exceptions.

Let us pray. That's something we can do. Even if God seems not to be answering our prayers, we can believe and feel we've done what we can do to behave properly. No one can give a better answer. That doesn't mean there may be people who have good ideas for improving life on earth and getting to heaven. Let's try it. Let's try prayer. What do we have to lose?

Republican and Conservative Christians who like to quote the Gospel never mention the parable of the sheep and the goats in Matthew 25:31-46, in which The Son of Man judges humanity, and approves of those who actually followed his teachings from the Sermon on the Mount. "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ And when the "righteous" protest that they never helped the Lord personally, "“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ "
They don't quote it because the implications are so obvious even schoolchild could explain it. "“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat. . . ." So, it sounds like the Fire Next Time to me.

I was raised Catholic. I remember well a sermon I heard about helping the poor. In school, those who wished to contribute something could do so, and the funds were then given over to poor people in other countries.
It baffles me how some see Jesus as one who would approve of so called Republican ideals. One reader states that Jesus 'hated' the rich. Jesus did not hate anyone, though he disapproved strongly of those who attempted to pretend to be righteous, often to the disadvantage of the poor and less advantaged. When he performed miracles, it was not to restore anyone's bank account, to increase profits for anyone. He performed miracles of healing, of men and women's minds, of their souls, their bodies.

Duh, because there's more Democrats than Republicans.
I disagree with the premise of this article.
Frankly, I think its sick to try to drag religion into politics like this writer is doing.
I'll grant you Republicans get more of the fundamentalist and wacko Christians. The racist Right is extreme in this country, from the Klan to the Christian Identity nazis. Republicans can have them. And there's a whole crop of them Conservative Evangelicals that are not Christian in any sense except for their fake pretenses.
Political-wannabes like the Westboro Baptists, Anti-Abortion Assassins, Fundamental LDS Polygamists are all extreme righties the country would be better off without.
If you want to consider some of the immoral issues Republicans are trying to dump on Americans, you'd have to say that anyone who supports these creeps aren't Christian. Jesus sure wouldn't.

The above is a true statement. However, the reason Christians vote Republican is because, Christians were sold the "bill of goods" that implies that, "God Is A Republican".
Any true student of the Bible will attest, that the Republican Platform (if it can be called that), is diametrically opposed to the teachings of the person we call the "Christ". Jesus hated the rich, and talked about "the deceitfulness of riches".
The Republican "mantra" has always been, "more tax cuts for the rich", and cuts in programs that help the poor, working poor, and Middle Class. And, since 1981 - when "Reaganomics" was created, the gap between the rich and poor has been ever widening. But, the ASSETS of the rich have been steadily increasing.
I will further state, that, the "average" Christian (who votes Republican) is practically Biblically "illiterate", and believes in a "sanitized" version of Jesus that is so far removed from the Jesus who is written about in the New Testament, that, if placed side-by-side, ( the Jesus of 30 AD vs. the "Republicanized" Jesus of today) any honest person would think that, you have to be talking about two different people.
I've studied the Bible enough to know that you don't want to cross the God of the Bible or, the teachings of the man we call "Jesus". (The reason I say, "the man we call Jesus" or, call, "the Christ" is because many distortions have a risen over how His name is spelled and who and what He was) But, aside from all that, politics has presented a false Jesus to benefits the rich and powerful in this country, and tramples over the needs and rights of the poor, working poor, and Middle Class.
We are just beginning to see what the "powers behind the throne" (of the Tea Party and Ultra Right Conservative Republicans) have been planning since they lost the 2008 election. Everyone seems to forget, that, we voted "out" (in 2006 and 2008) the people who wrecked this country in the preceding eight years. And, just because Obama couldn't "fix" everything in two years, they came up with the saying, "I want my country back". Well, folks, you are getting a rough idea (after only three or, four months) of what your country will be like if the programs of the two above mentioned groups "have it their way". Already, "Recall Elections" are in the offing in Wisconsin - soon to be followed by other States - because the ugly, vicious, face of the Tea Party and "Radical Right" has been exposed for what they really are - FASCISTS!!!
