Sir, you mislead the readers - the persentage is nowhere near 10%. At best it is 1.36%, and that is skewed due to the fact that many of those that consider themselves Gay really don't know who they are. they are in some small world away from reality, and suffer from other social disorders.
No matter how hard you try to portray Gay, homosexual, "special-different-heavy-friendship-relations", as accepted, it doesn't reduce the intollerance of most of us. 99% do not want a Gay relationship.
So, if you want to continue, I can't stop you. Just don't keep bringing it up at the dinner table.

18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.
21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.
24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator–who is forever praised. Amen.
26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.

given that everything points to close to 10 % of the population is gay, whats the problem. Especially re the cities where a very large number of the people are obviously gay.
its the closet - the christian / catholic virtualizing of the ghetto, where gays are terrorized into hiding who they are, fearing losing their jobs, friends and families.
BTW this is not so different then what hitler did with the jews, putting them in a physical ghetto so, being out of sight and mind, they could be demonized. And btw he did the same re the gays.
Whose doing it - google "southern baptists and child molestation" - the anything but christians who need a new group to hate, although with Pr. obama they are also back to that game as well.
And the catholic church of the endless hidden molestation of children. Where even known vile priests were simply moved to new locations where they could continue their vile crimes. Why = because the priests brought in the moneyl
And why hasn't hitler been EXcommunicated _ he was baptised catholic in 1888 in very catholic austria?
Go to www.nobeliefs.com/nazis.htm The truth about the absolutist church that murdered 40 million Muslims during the christian crusades.
that in 2009 UNexcommunicated a holocaust denier, bishop williamson.
That gave the world the hatred of the Jews cuz they wouldn't convert - a hatred hitler leveraged to power, and 55 million died for the church of life'
www.nobeliefs.com/nazis.htm 40 pix exposing the church. The good catholic people can change the church - by not giving it another cent and forcing RATZInger into a nursing home or to the Hague.

To think this article has been accepted for publication in a national news magazine is saddening. As Danielle and Mr. Moss have mentioned, simple things like state capitols and when legislation has passed are taken as truth by the reader, because she or he believes that competent news staff have vetted the facts in the article in question. This is basic journalism - very, very basic journalism; facts are checked by the journalist and, if he or she does not do the job correctly, the editor should correct glaring errors such as those above. Has US News really sunk this low as to not know its state capitols??

It's time America, where marriage is firstly a civil and contractual matter. Period.
CT passed a civil union law in 2005, and a marriage equality law in 2008, and life goes on, as couples from all across the country come here to wed each year.
Cheers, Joe Mustich, CT Justice of the Peace, USA.
I'll be celebrating 32 years with my spouse Ken, who I met on a beach on Fire Island Pines, NY. And it seem just like yesterday
PS: The marriage cops need to retire and play some bingo in the middle of the nearest ocean.......grow up dudes, we did, here in the land of the Puritans...

" But the other states represented among the top 10--Vermont, California, Oregon, and New Hampshire--began issuing same-sex marriage licenses or partnerships much later"
Please do some research before writing such things! Vermont was the FIRST state to grant anything equivalent to marriage for same sex couples. Civil Unions went into effect July 1 2000, LONG before the Massachusetts marriage decision. We were the first. So it only makes sense that Burlington is #2 on the list.

The Capital of Maine is Augusta. Portland is Maine's largest city. As a long time resident of Portland, Seattle, and San Francisco it is unsurprising that these cities are listed high as all have a very thriving queer cultural life.
