Obama Launches Re-election Campaign

The president made the announcement in an E-mail to supporters.

President Obama officially launched his re-election campaign Monday, with 20 months to go until the 2012 presidential election. Obama made the announcement in an E-mail to supporters and signaled he would file Federal Election Commission papers this week. Obama's campaign website also released a campaign video which included testimonials from supporters giving reasons why they back Obama. One supporter felt inspired by Obama's 2008 victory, one said while he doesn't always agree with Obama, he respects him, and another suggested the election bid won't be easy just because Obama is the incumbent. So far, Obama doesn't have a primary challenger.
