Its startling to see Jimmy playing such an "inside" role amongst the nations. I am glad to see him hobbling through all these different areas, where he looks like hes happy. Seeing George Bush somewhat doing the same thing with the look of a frightening cringe on his face is How I think I may look like...but its Jimmy!

What a stud!

How about "interfering" or "involving" to bring US citizens back home? That sounds like a pretty darned decent thing to me.

I wish Cuba would have locked Carter up and kept him away from the U.S.

Carter did tremendous damage to the USA during his presidency and afterwords, iterfering wit the official US policy. I heard that he was elected to be a chief of one African tribe. He should accept this post and leave the US alone.

President Carter's involvement in affairs with third world countries (often enemies of the US) is dangerously close to a violation of federal law. Some would argue that it has, in the past, crossed this line. The question arises if there are issues with Mr. Carter's mind, if he is simply trying to find some way to make himself relevant (or at least visible) to make up for his disastrous presidency, or if it's something else.

Our Cuba policy is design to regain control of the island, lost after Cubans defeated the US supported brutal dictatorship of Batista. That government went on to installed itself in Miami as a proxy to US designs. President Carter call for an end to the trade embargo against the 11 million Cubans and a travel ban against anyone residing in the US is no concession to Cuba but a correction of an inhumane policy. Unlike the five Cubans in US jails for the past 12 years who were here infiltrating anti-Cuban terrorist groups and not working against the US government(unless we support terrorism) Mr. Gross, the agent form USAID contracts unfortunately was caught in activities designed to destabilize the Cuban government. Freeing the 5 Cubans unjustly tried(as per 3 judges of the SU court of appeals) is no concession but correction of an injustice. Ending our anti-Cuban policy of over five decades could only be of benefit to both nations.

The United States ranked among communist Cuba's top five trading partners for the first time in 2007 despite the decades-old U.S. trade embargo, as U.S. agriculture sales increased by $100 million.

Trade data for 2007 posted on the Web site of Cuba's National Statistics Office (www.one.cu) placed the United States fifth at $582 million, compared with $484 million in 2006, including shipping costs.

The Report to the President of the United States by the Commission for Assistance to a FreeCuba (Report 2004:34) states that remittances from abroad accounted for $400 to $800 million annually, with some estimates placing as high as $1 billion.

THERE IS NO ONE MORE CRIMINAL THAT FIDEL CASTRO AND THE COMMUNIST PARTY IN CUBA!

Under Cuba's "dangerousness" law, authorities can imprison people who have not committed a crime on the suspicion that they might commit one in the future. "Dangerous" activities include handing out copies of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, writing articles critical of the government and trying to start an independent union.

Speaking of criminals how about the castro regime who brutalizes any citizen who dissents with their ideology, outlaws other political parties, bans it's citizens form traveling freely and the toping on the cake restricts citizens from any internet access. OH lets not mention they also haven't had a fair and demorcratic election in 52 years. I am from miami and I am not a Batistiano but I see that you are a communist who thinks that Cuba should be run by a dictator like Castro or like Batista who was no better than Castro. Cuba should be run by it's people and they should have the choice to elect a president which hasn't happened in about 60 years now. Speaking of a powerful minority let's talk about the Castro regime which has enslaved 11 million cubans for about 52 years now and has run the cuban economy and it's foreign policy with the IQ of a salamander sir. Everything that has happened to Cuba is Castro's doing not the cubans in cuba or the ones in exile's fault.Your days are number in Cuba and so are the days of your oppressive and abusive gov't. I can not wait for the near future when the people in Miami and in Havana will celebrate a free Cuba.

During his presidency and now his post-presidency President Carter has been the rare politician/statesman with the integrity, guts, and intelligence to combat the greed, stupidity, and criminality of the radical Cuban exiles (now deep into a second generation) and their sycophants. The anti-Castro venom that has ruled America's Cuban policy since 1959 has been designed primarily to enrich and empower a small but politically and economically powerful minority. Miami and Union City (NJ) (where most of the Batista-aligned Mafioso came from) quickly evolved into Batistiano banana republic dictatorships on U. S. soil after the overthrow of the Batista dictatorship in Cuba on January 1, 1959. The innocent Cubans on the island as well as America and its democracy have suffered greatly ever since. As Penelope Purdy, the Latin American expert and editorialist, wrote in the Denver Post: "The U. S. Cuban policy for all these decades has been conducted with the IQ of a salamander." For the criminals and benefactors, the Cuban policy has been extremely rewarding because we majority Americans, apart from President Carter, have not had the intelligence or the guts to do anything about it.
