Syrian forces opened fire upon hundreds of protesters in the southern city of Deraa. Newly released video footage shows youth activists chanting "peaceful, peaceful" before being shot by government forces. The main hospital in Deraa has received the bodies of 25 protesters killed in the conflict. Deraa is located on Syria's border with Jordan and has been a stronghold of the socialist Ba'ath party. In the past few weeks, it has become the center of protests against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
