As long as we have big private money in campaign politics, a wall street and (to big to fail)d investment banking/wall street government, short term politicians with only their next election, ego, power and financial gain in mind, only darwin's theories come to mind.

God luck to our children's children.

but think about it they did attack us. we do need to at least get Gaddafi out of power but we definetly. i say that because like he could plan on attacking us later on if he stays in power and or country is not payign attention. although our country does not need another war. We already have our hands tied up with the other wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. it is a big waste of money for our country. If we do end up going to war our country will not have any money to even supprt our troops. so i do agree that it is a big waste of money. The only thing i do want to see is Gaddafi out of power and no war.

The method of governance is very unique in Libya. Once the rule of Colonel Gaddafi was established forty years ago people’s committees are formed based on region, race, tribe and the size of the city. These committees were given the opportunities to convene , coordinate and comply with the basic principles of governance. All had an opportunity to discuss holistically the varied aspects of governance including education, health, economics and welfare every year. I donot know any other country where we could witness such equal opportunity is given for every citizen to participate in discussion, design and develop the community that they live in. But there is a central control which could be oppressive, dictatorial and biased.. The regime wanted its citizens to learn and be internationally recognized. The universities created in the names of Al-Fateh University in Tripoli, Garyounis University in Benghazi during the 1980s and 1990s had colloboration with international universities.

I was a teacher for the students of Benghazi during 1980 to 1990. There was no free communication in any form at that time. Any dissent or voice that went against was nipped in the bud. When I went after 30 years now I saw a different country with lots of freedom with open communication, free travel, free enterprise and free market system evolving slowly. What I saw then and what I witnessed now in the university was alarming. Then the fire of change and freedom broke out in the neighboring country Egypt. That fire also engulfed the young minds of Libyans particularly those in Benghazi. Feb 17 was considered a day of rage or mourning as it formed the fifth Anniversary of few who laid down their lives for the cause they are fighting at Benghazi.

UN security council resolution and maintaining no fly zone to safeguard innocent civilians being shot or bombarded is initiated by France, UK,USA and now it is being continued by NATO. Yet the problem remains as to how these civilians will be safeguarded from the skies.

There is no use of such bombardment excepting to send an international committee made up of UN President, Arab League chairman, African Union Leader and members of NATO to see, assess and take a decision for further action. There is no other military solution to this problem. The fighting residents of Benghazi must visit France, sit and plan further action. Unless such attempts are made we could witness another war-zone where innocent lives will be lost and the wealth of country, its civilization and Omar Mukthar’s dream will become tombstones in the graveyard of Libya like or Afghanisthan.

I agree with you, our priorities as a country are discombobulated. I don't really understand why Obama spoke a lot about taking troops out of Iraq, in his campaign for President, when that has not happened to any significant degree. I listened to Richard Engel, the reporter, on Charlie Rose recently. He is one of the most perceptive people I can think of, and he is in the Middle East constantly, quite aware of what is happening.

He said that the Libyan rebels are already 'dependent' on Allied help, and that without it, they would be beaten back quickly. He said that conflict is likely to last years.

Our military, and military involvements, are so spread out around the world that it is draining our country of needed money, for other much needed things, at an alarming rate. Why aren't more rational people in charge, someone who can see past next Tuesday ?

Yes, you understand right: bomb Gaddafi, not his mercenaries!

And the 30'000'000'000 $ of Gaddafi should be used for bombing Gaddafi family!

All the military action the US is involved in will be over and then we will have more pressing issues. This is just the beginning of the terrors we will face, but there will always be poor, always be hungry and there will always be something to fight for and something to live for. The world works that way and we have to accept it. Yes, we can try to reduce the numbers of all scenarios, but those troubles will always be. Someone somewhere will be hurting and it is up to the people to help. The government should not be greatly involved in the lives of its citizens. We have gotten soft and greedy; complaining all the time. We are too focused on material possessions instead of helping our neighbors. Why? You tell me. When was the last time you did something without expecting something in return for your services? When was the last time you could have done something good with the money you spent on that new big screen in your living room though the last one was perfectly fine? That is what makes AMERICA. And that is what Americans have lost. The sense of community and the pride of truly being AMERICAN.

It is time for a citizen's revolt against the people responsible for our continued policy of policing the world.

The costs of our military and follow-on civilian intervention in Iraq, Afghanistan, and now Libya continue to escalate as many of our citizens live below the poverty line, have lost their homes, and are left wondering where the money will come from to feed themselves and their children.

Many are living without health insurance praying that they don't need to see a doctor whilst we are spending millions on missiles in a country that matters little to us other than for oil.

It is time to pull back our exhausted military troops from their foreign bases and take care of our own.

If Qadhafi remains in power, Obama will have egg on his face, and the people as well as the Republicans will have a case for demonizing him. I can't imagine an adequate resolution of this crisis with him still in power. Because he can't be reasoned with, thez world will be better off with him dead. The rebels must be trained in military combat and supplied with planes, tanks, and stingers, like the Afghans had that defeated a superior Russian army. Those Afghans became the Taliban. Qadhafi is comparable to Saddam Hussein, and just as bad, if not worse. Obama's tim, etable is not realistic. Who's going to train the rebels, and who's going to supply the arsenal neccesary to depose Qadhafi, that's the $64,000 question?
