Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee slammed Academy Award-winning actress Natalie Portman for becoming pregnant out of wedlock. The potential 2012 Republican presidential candidate told conservative radio host Michael Medved earlier this week that Portman is setting a bad example and her pregnancy "gives a distorted image. It's unfortunate that we glorify and glamorize the idea of out-of-wedlock children." Huckabee also said there "aren't really a lot of single moms" out there who are "making millions of dollars" like Portman. "Most single moms are very poor, uneducated, can't get a job," Huckabee said, "and if it weren't for government assistance, their kids would be starving to death and never have healthcare." Huckabee was the favorite at the 2008 Iowa caucuses and appealed to social conservative voters.

"As a single mom for many years now I want to tell this idiot that I am not poor, I am educated, and have a job as an Vice president at a large bank. I have never been on government assistance, my child is well nourished and has regular medical attention."

Well, it is good you are doing well. It isn't the case with most single Moms. Children deserve to have a Mom and a Dad. Children need a Mom a and a Dad. Moreover, single moms and poverty are virtually the same thing according to every review of the situation. Here is one study of MANY:

It is VERY hard to raise children and as a single mom. Millionaire Natalie Portman not withstanding.

Why is Natalie Portman his only target? How has Bristol Palin escaped his wrath, despite having no plans to wed?

"Where does this guy get his info?!?!

As a single mom for many years now I want to tell this idiot that I am not poor, I am educated, and have a job as an Vice president at a large bank. I have never been on government assistance, my child is well nourished and has regular medical attention.

Please, please do not let this man become president. His ignorance may actually top W's. What an arrogant piece of work he is."

Ma'am it's great that you are doing well for yourself and your child, but I don't think you clearly understand Huckabee's message. He was trying to get across that "MOST single moms are very poor, uneducated, can't get a job." How exactly is that ignorance. I haven't done any research, but I think MOST rational people would agree. I'm sure you have worked hard for your position, and ability to provide, but don't you agree that this is not possible for MOST single mothers. Think about it ma'am.

Really? Read what he said, think about it, and delete your post to save further embarrassment.
