It seems to me that our country is becoming a dysfunctional one. With the rise of talk radio and biased media outlets and foundations - on both sides - it seems everyone is aching for a fight. When I grew up, not so long ago, I was taught to be respectful of others and their views, even if I did not necessarily agree.
In my view, freedom of speech does not mean attacking others, making derogatory, unkind and hateful remarks to others. It seems to be everywhere. If the adults (I assume it is mostly adults who respond to opinions on U.S. News) are obnoxious and hateful, with no tolerance for other peoples' point of view, what is the likelihood that young people will grow up with an openness to listen to others?
I have never met anyone who I agreed with 100% of the time; has anyone?

@The Center,
The article does not mention education, perhaps you misread the main point of the article.
Think tanks have historically been left orientated, and many of these have been around for some time. Long ago a government report noted that they wielded huge political power over the education system. Perhaps that is your link to education.

So, is it being educated that makes you liberal, or is being liberal what encourages you to get educated?
