Obama Responds to Fatal Shooting of Two U.S. Airmen in Germany

March 2, 2011 RSS Feed Print

President Obama said he is "saddened and outraged" by the fatal shooting of two U.S. airmen outside a Frankfurt, Germany, airport Wednesday. "We will spare no effort in learning how this outrageous act took place." He also pledged to work with German authorities to bring the perpetrator to justice. The shooter allegedly wounded two other Americans in his attack on a bus carrying the airmen. German officials have identified the shooter "as a 21-year-old from Kosovo," the Associated Press reports. Obama said the shooting is "a stark reminder of the extraordinary sacrifices that our men and women in uniform are making all around the world to keep us safe, and the dangers that they face all around the world."

FYI, Bob in WA of WA, the president was saddened and outraged by both incidents. Moreover, the issue was discussed this past week with the visiting President of Mexico, and the efforts or measures that should be taken on both sides of the border to curb these incidents.

Just to let you know that this bus was 'BLUE' and NOT drab 'green'. All U.S. Air Force vehicles are 'dark blue' in color. If one sees the pictures of the bus, you'll ALSO note that the 'plate' on that bus 'reads' AFO6-XXXXX. That is the registration number of that vehicle. And that is a "DEAD" giveaway to ANYONE on the 'identity' of the vehicle. Army plates in Europe 'read' USAEUR, and Navy plates 'read' USNEUR. That's ONLY on what we call GOV(Governmant owned Vehicles). Private cars, owned by military personnel in Europe, have gotten away using the 'old' green plates that stood out like a 'sore thumb' amid the normal 'BLACK on WHITE' plates of the host(Germany) country........

At least we won't be invading Germany or Kosovo (I hope).
