The reason we do not have good jobs that compete with teachers wages any longer is we now have traded those jobs with what the Republicans want to call cheap labor... This cheap labor is in what we call COMMUNIST CHINA, George Bush exported over 4 million jobs to China for Cheap labor, however this is not Cheap labor, this is SLAVE LABOR... not cheap labor... If busting the Unions was the solution, after 30 years Union Busting which started with Ronald Reagen and the Air Traffic Contol we now only have 7 union jobs to 93 non union, that used to be closer to 40 Union jobs to 60 non union, If busting the unions, giving enormous tax break to the rich, importing from Communist and Totalitarian nations, waging aggressive wars, leaving millions upon millions of Americans uninsured, and all the other Republican agenda was working, the why oh why after thirty years of this did we go from a few unpaid bills on the desk,(less then 1 trillion in debt) to over three trillion during Reagen alone, then during Bush he went from 5 trillion to 10 trillion signing a 1 trillion dollar tarp bill on the way out and leaving a gigantic mortgage banking and fraud mess behind. If these were the solutions, after 30 years should we not be reaping the profits... We are if you are the 2% elite that is raping the rest of us. Also another little fact that has come to light... Texas Bushes wonderful non union state that does not use union labor for its work force is now reporting 18 billion in debt... Far more then what the union force of Wisconsin is.
Only a fool would try to deprive working men and women of the right to join the union of their choice.
President Dwight Eisenhower (1953-1961), general and Allied Supreme Commander in World War II
Our labor unions are not narrow, self-seeking groups. They have raised wages, shortened hours, and provided supplemental benefits. Through collective bargaining and grievance procedures, they have brought justice and democracy to the shop floor.
President John F. Kennedy, 1962
In light of this fundamental structure of all work… in light of the fact that, labor and capital are indispensable in any social system … it is clear that even if it is because of production in any social system … it is clear that even if it is because of their work needs that people unite to secure their rights, their union remains a constructive factor of social order and solidarity, and it is impossible to ignore it.

ALL YOU PEOPLE ARE CLUELESS TRY RUNNING A BUSINESS FOR ONCE AN PAY ALL YOUR EMPLOYEES THE SAME PAY AND BENEFITS THAT STATE WORKERS GET. ITS NOT ONLY ABOUT THAT IT IT IS ALSO ABOUT THE UNIONS (MAFIA) TAKING THE TAX DOLLARS WHICH COME FROM ME (TAX PAYER) AND SPENDING THOSE TAX DOLLARS ON DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATES.
HELLO!! AMERICA SHOULD BE A REPUBLIC, LESS GOVERNMENT LOWER TAXES, JUST LOOK AT THE MOST DEMOCRATIC STATES LIKE NY AND CALIFORNIA--(THEY ARE BANKRUPT). IM FROM EUROPE I KNOW WHAT SOCIALISM AND COMMUNISM IS. WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!

The deficit in Wisconsin came about when Walker cut taxes for the rich. He takes phone calls from the Koch brothers, but won't negotiate in good faith with his own employees or the Democratic Senators. If someone smells like a dictator, and deprives people of bargaining rights like a dictator, and tries to shut down dissent like a dictator, and helps the moneyed classes like a dictator, it's hard to conclude he's well intentioned when he tries to divide and conquer the middle class.

I believe Walker was kicked out of Marquette University because of plagiarizing.

G W started the attack aimed at turning our society into the model of societies from South America and this is just the Republican Party's continuing drive to assure that the rich will have plenty of poor people to abuse.

I'm an independent and don't always agree with the party in power. Unless it is a constitutional amendment, if a function is done away with in one administration, it can always be brought back in the next administration. The Senators should return and let the vote go through. When the next election comes up, vote to change the party in power to one which will function more in your thought process.

lincoln hid out to avoid being part of a vote he knew was wrong and not in the best intrest of the people. He became president of the US. People then as now do not tolerate dictatorial governing. Wisconsin has 4 million eligible voters , only 2 million voted so walker is not representing the people he is only representing 25% of the state eligible voters.

Why do Republicans think the Democratic Senators aren't doing their jobs?
THEY ARE.
They're stopping Scott Walker from running roughshod over them, laughing the entire way!
They're stopping Scott Walker from giving public industries to David Koch!
They're stopping Scott Walker from taking away collective bargaining rights, which have no effect on the deficit!
THEY ARE STOPPING SCOTT WALKER FROM WALKING OVER THE POOR TO FEED THE RICH.
God Bless you, Democratic Senators from Wisconsin! Keep up the good fight! We'll elect you from out of state if we have to!

When one party loses its majority in Congress or in state legislatures or wherever, that's the way it goes at least until the next election cycle. By walking away and "preventing" legislative votes, they are saying they will DO ANYTHING to have their way. What they've done is completely snub the democratic process. The standard the legislators in Wisconsin have confirmed (after the Democrat legislators in Texas pulled the same stunt in the early 2000s) is given Republicans a method of preventing Democrat bills from becoming law.
How would you like it if every time a Democrat bill - like Obamacare, for example - came up for a vote, Republicans just left town?
You'd be crying foul, too.
Whether Walker's idea is right or wrong is irrelevant to whether or not those legislators should be in the Wisconsin capital. That's total BS and a total middle finger to the rule of law. This childish BS that has no place in American government. By your standard, Republicans have to grin and bear it when they lose elections ... but if Democrats lose elections, then no laws will be passed unless they are Democrat laws. There may as well only be one political party. I can assure you, whether it is Dems or Reps, with a two party system sucking as bad as it does, you damn sure do not want a one party system.
