BOB: I sure hope you're not black or Hispanic, because if you are either, you basically just insulted the hell out of your own race.

To Jman of Colorado: Since when is a white person watching CHILD PORN a lesser evil than a black man shooting someone over a bad drug deal? What values you have! Where do you come from?! And I don't mean geographically. All of these posts are based on deep prejudices whether racial or political. Listen to yourselves!

Every single one of these cities are Democrat strongholds that overwhelmingly went for Obama. Need I say more???

This is interesting although these cities all share something in common they have primarily black residents... Although in my state most of the horrible crimes happen in the African American areas, although its one of the biggest cities where it seems the worst of the worst find themselves. Don't get me wrong in other parts of cities the white folks commit crimes but often they are minor in comparison to black crime. For instance white person looking at child internet porn, and a black person shooting another guy over a bad drug deal. I think that the reason for the sharp decline for crime is people are staying in more because of social entertainment via the web and that people don't want to deal with anybody's BS.

Lived in St. Louis 30 years. Unfortunately these figures are for St. Louis City (mainly North) and not the surrounding county and suburbs. Skews the data much higher than it really is. Feel safe here. Just like any large city, you have to know where to go and not go.

kansas city is where I was born & raised. As for crime and danger, stay off troost street and that surrounding area, you will be fine! KC has a lot to offer with the Nelson Atkins & The plaza! We live in a suburb 30 miles away but I dont feel "in danger" when we go to City market or even downtown 12th street Sprint center. It's a wonderful place to call home. My advice would be to live east of KC and visit it's attrations without fear :)

I was born in Atlanta, Georgia. I moved to Chalmette (very close to New Orleans) Louisiana then Pensacola, Florida, then back to Chalmette, then to Las Vegas, Nevada, and finally to Idaho, Twin Falls. I would've thought the crime rates would've been highest in Las Vegas and New Orleans (I knew Atlanta would be one of them). I warn you though, Twin Falls is a peaceful place but it has so much drama for teenagers and young kids... even adults are rude towards each other sometimes! If I had a chose to live in Las Vegas with crimes or Twin Falls with the drama... Las Vegas!

I've lived in both Orlando, and Miami. I lived in Miami Springs as a child and still have family there. I now live in Coral Gables. I think the main problem with Orlando is the fact that crime is everywhere even in the best parts. There's no separation between the nice areas and bad. In Orlando you will be driving on a road with million dollar homes and the next road over is the ghetto (sometimes they're even on the same road!). I know it sounds bad but if I am making a good living working hard at what I do, I certainly do not want to worry about the crack houses down the street. Miami, however, in my opinion, isn't as dangerous as everyone thinks, Miami has a lot of separation and typically the violent crime happen in the same areas, such as Liberty City, and everyone knows to stay out of those areas but Miami is also expensive, so unless you can afford to live in Miami Springs or Coral Gables or any other nice areas then I wouldn't recommend it.
