Iran Tackles Antigovernment Protest Movement

Iranian authorities are trying to stop an antigovernment protest movement that erupted Monday and are blaming the United States and Israel for the uprisings.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei criticized the American backing of protests around the Middle East. The Supreme Leader warned of the United State's influence but said Iran's government is and will continue to be powerful. Iranian cleric Ahmad Khatami said, "The main criminals are Americans and Zionists." Two people have been killed since the protests—the largest Iran has seen in a year—broke out. On Wednesday, government supporters sparred with antigovernment protesters at the funeral of an Iranian student killed during the protests earlier this week.

It'll be great if the protest succeeds in overthrowing the cruel Iranian government. Iran needs a radical change.

It's a shame that the "rulers" of Iran are so ignorant to their own strenghts that they resort to blaming others for their own "governments" shortcomings. The entire country is rich in history and talents, it is all going to waste because their own government cannot get passed the ideaology that is put in place there. My family is from Tehran and I have heard of all the wonderful things that were done before the revolution in the 80's. These protestors need all the support they can get to fuel the fire in their belly's to return that country back to it's glory.
