Quote "Leader of the Free World

I remember when that phrase meant something...If the United States of America is no longer a beacon of light for the people of world who yearn for Democracy and freedom from DIRECT violent oppression and denial of basic "inalienable" human rights...what nation is?"

I can't belive you think only the US should be the beacon for freedom. What about every nation, not just one nation that can not even control its debt or get out of a recession

The beating of Anti-Mubarak protesters brings back memories of May 8,1970 when hundreds of Hard Hats were let out of a union meeting to beat the crap out of 1000 college students protesting the Vietnam war. More than 100 students required hospitalization, only six Hard Hats were arrested and later released.

To the decent people of Egypt who have bravely stood against a ruthless tyrant the Leader of the Free World offers you his best wishes and the advice to remain nonviolent...try not to squirm while his thugs beat you in the street...it's not our fault we armed him and will continue to offer him money to buy more weapons but we asked him very loudly and nicely not to use them on you.

It is too late for us to think that this is not our problem. For years we have been supporting the Mubarak regime, despite him being a dictator.. and the Egyptians know this. For us to just walk away and say this is not our problem anymore will not be taken lightly. I agree that we have no right to install a new government, but it is our duty to help keep the Egyptians safe during this transition. We owe it to the Egyptian people after supporting a dictatorship against them for so long.

+1 to what Sticky Fingers said. Egypt's problems need to be sorted out by Egyptians. The last thing they need is a regime that's perceived as being put into power by the U.S. We've seen how well that's working out in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Can we please learn from our past mistakes and mind our own business? I support the establishment of a government that satisfies the needs of both the people and the country that nourishes them, but let Egypt do its thing before we go in there with storm troopers trying to set up voting booths and a retirement community that can't use them in South Beach Cairo. "Kerry Call for Mubarak to Step Down" the headline reads. Or what? Are you going to pistol whip him, John Kerry. Can we please, please, please work on the economy, get the McDonalds Dollar Menu back down to under a dollar, and if Egypt wants help, they'll ask.
