A Lonely Guilty Verdict for Charlie Rangel

all this is an excersise in futility and backroom politics. How many may remember the two charaters that played local polititions in the sit comedies Good Times and Amos and Andy, the writers may have been inspired by the likes of rangel; the big difference is that rangel's actions are not amusing. Who ever thinks that as people we have made great strides forward are completely dilusional. I am personaly offended when the first defense used by rangel and many of his supporters was the race card, "it's because I'm black". That simply tells me you are not able to present a defense based on facts that will challenge the validaty of the charges and that we the listeners are so brain dead that we lack the intellectual capacity to see the truth. It's insulting because these egomaniacs are convinced that "we the people" will always follow the "pied piper". It is writen somewhere that pride comes before the fall". At sixty four years old I do not expect to see a change in my life time I can only work to teach my children and grandchildren to always stand up for the truth no matter what the color of the crayon whether it be black, white or brown. To have the courage to stand up to those individuals that will pressure them based only on the color of their skin.

In Massachusetts we have a similar situation in Representative Diane Wilkerson, who for years defied proper, ethical, and legal representation of her constituents.

It seems that once in office these "representatives" really beleive that they are 'above the law' thinking that their political base would carry them on no matter how they acted!

Well, maybe this is the first step in rectifying the vast corruption by our 'so-called' representatives!

But maybe this is 'wishful thinking' on my part!

I am afraid that our government has proven itself to be lawless and incapable of self-governance. People like Rangel and DeLay appear to be criminals by even the loosest definition of the term. They should be tried, and if found guilty, succinctly removed and severely punished.

People in positions of power should be held to a higher level of ethics not the virtually non-existent one our representatives currently enjoy.

Our representatives continue to flagrantly abuse their power and flaunt their above-the-law status. It seems to be getting worse almost by the day. If this doesn't change quickly, people may begin taking justice into their own hands. Feeling (justifiably) disenfranchised by a corrupt system, they may resort to extreme measures and even violence.

it is not that I have any pity for the scum that make up the majority of our political base. I am however truly afraid of the effect of such actions and ensuing chaos that would fall upon the rest of us. Only then will the people realize how many of their constitutional rights have been quietly eliminated via examples of totalitarian legislation such as the Patriot Act.

Fix this America...I don't want to leave.

Probably malingered his way through Korea. Turds in Harlem will keep re-electing even if he stabbed an infant to death, live, on stage, cut out its heart and ate it and then proceed to commit necrophilia with the corpse in front of thousands of supporters while waving a cowboy hat and yelling "yippe-ki-yi-yay!"

It's sad, he got arrogant like so many in congress do and somehow just thought he could slide by without being called on it. He has no one to blame but himself. When you serve that long you are well aware of the rules.

Lets get this straight besides all the other things he did wrong the only thing that is going to happen to this guy for not paying his taxes is he is going to be lecture and he will have to pay the taxes he was caught not paying. Seems fair NOT. If you or me don't pay tax on all of our income we get penalties, interest, and threaten with jail time. What a JOKE
