Democrats have hung onto Connecticut's Senate seat with Richard Blumenthal beating Republican Linda McMahon, former World Wrestling Entertainment chief executive.

Blumenthal, Connecticut's attorney general for 20 years, overcame early misstatements about his military service during the Vietnam and prevailed despite McMahon spending tens of millions of dollars of her personal wealth on the race. Veteran Sen. Christopher Dodd is retiring.

Georgia Sen. Johnny Isakson, Oklahoma Sen. Tom Coburn and North Carolina Sen. Richard Burr all won second terms. All three are Republicans.
