TOPEKA, Kan. — An obscure candidate in the Republican primary for Kansas governor has promised that if elected she would put every piece of legislation that reaches her desk to a biblical test and public poll.

Joan Heffington, a former home builder and retired Boeing purchasing agent, told The Kansas City Star that as governor she would only sign measures the public supports and the Bible authorizes.

The 55-year-old Derby woman is running against U.S. Sen. Sam Brownback, the expected GOP nominee, with a campaign that has been marked by a series of outlandish claims. Among them is her latest assertion that voters may not have heard about her campaign because Brownback has bribed the news media to ignore her.

She contends she got into the governor's race to highlight what she contends is a corrupt legal and political system in Kansas and Washington — undeterred by the fact she has never held office nor has the campaign financing of her better known opponent.

Brownback, who plans to leave the U.S. Senate to fulfill a term limits pledge, has said little about his primary opponent and his campaign has instead focused on the likely matchup with Democratic candidate Tom Holland, a state senator from Baldwin City. [See where Brownback's campaign cash comes from.]

He picked as his choice for lieutenant governor state Sen. Jeff Colyer, an Overland Park surgeon.

The two men have been touting what they call a "roadmap for Kansas" that includes an ambitious revision of the state's school finance formula and greater government efficiency.

"All the measurables look good, but you don't know until the election takes place, so we're pushing hard," Brownback said of his campaign.

Heffington has picked as her running mate Mark Holick, a Wichita pastor.

Heffington founded the Association for Honest Attorneys to combat what she claims is corruption in Kansas courts and government. She said she also believes the CIA has conducted chemical and biological experiments on Kansans for decades.

"It's true," she said. "I've been trying to get attention for this for I don't know how long."

Brownback's campaign declined to respond to her claims.

Also running on the November ballot for governor is Reform Party candidate Ken Cannon and Libertarian Andrew Gray.

Many people have never heard of Joan Heffington, but once you do, you realize you have met a person that walks with God. Go to her website and learn more about her, because the more you learn of her, the more you love her. This gentle considerate person, that helps people find legal council when none will represent them. Joan Heffington started the AHA or Association for Honest Attorneys, and for that she was put on the Terrorist Watch List that makes her life hell, and for this she can't even find work to live and pay her bills. If Joan is taken to court, no attorney will represent her, so much for our Constitution in Kansas. Like Joan says we're not protected by the Constitution in the State of Kansas since 1959, we're are under the Napoleonic French Law without the knowledge of most the citizens of Kansas. Joan Heffington tries to help the underdog because the Kansas legal system of Lawyers and Judges grind them right under their heels of so called justice. Joan Heffington has been scourged and ridiculed by the rich and powerful, when our legal system panders ,to the corrupt, rich, and powerful.

Look her name up on you tube and you will see about 10 videos of her, listen to those videos and learn of a good GOD loving person that should be Governor of Kansas on the Republican ticket. The major newspapers pander to Brownback, and he does just about nothing for campaigning, except sending other people out to represent him. Why would he spend $400,000 in a short span of weeks for a job that pays about $100,000 a year? Brownback still has about $1,000,000 left to spend on his campaign. Why would anyone spend so much money to make themselves look like they're worth a job paying $100,000 a year. I would think of them with ulterior motives, that would pay off much much more, in money and power, during their office of administration, like Sebelius, as she helped form the Health Care Bill.

When the real people of Kansas that really meet and talk with Joan, they not only like her, but they love her as we of Joan's campaign committee do. she serves only one master, and it isn't Money, it's truly GOD that she serves! She has vowed to listen to the people and vote the way the people want as long as 2/3 of the people vote for that law. .

Joan Heffington does stand up with the few honest and proud in Kansas, in which she's counted in doing what's right and good for the Kansas people, not what's popular! Let her know that you support her in her endeavor to clean up the legal system in Kansas.

Let GOD guide your heart. To Joan Heffington it isn't important to be politically correct, but is most important to be spiritually correct.
