Even out of office, Sarah Palin is an unavoidable presence on the political scene. Some conservatives are buzzing about her potential as a replacement for Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele. A new video from Palin's political action committee, SarahPAC, extols the virtues of what "Mama Grizzlies," a group that she defines as "common-sense conservative women." And she is also a major presence on the 2010 campaign trail. FEC data shows that Palin's PAC has donated over $52,000 to candidates during the 2010 election cycle, including several prominent "Mama Grizzly" Republican women. Top recipients include Alaska Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski and Palin's running mate from the 2008 presidential ticket, Arizona Republican Senator John McCain, both of whom received $5,000 from SarahPAC. But Palin didn't stick solely to Republicans, she also gave $5,000 to Doug Hoffmann, the Conservative Party candidate in the 2009 special election for New York's 23rd House district. Top recipients of SarahPAC cash since January 2009 include:

These numbers only reflect the first quarter of 2010, but the next FEC Congressional campaign filing deadline of July 15 is fast approaching, and SarahPAC-backed politicians appear to be doing well. Palin pick Michele Bachmann of Minnesota already this week announced a second-quarter total of $1.7 million in receipts, besting her opponent, Democrat Tarryl Clark, by $800,000. And Rob Portman of Ohio announced even more impressive second-quarter numbers, with $2.65 million in receipts through June 30. [See which industries give the most to Bachmann.]
