Why do we get mail from nonprofits asking for money with only 8 cents postage? Anybody think that then paying 44 cents to send them money is the wrong message?

With the strictures on hiring and firing, and the price controls that it faces, it is no wonder they can't compete. You can never beat the market on a large scale. And the USPS is large scale. Dictating that rates s/b equal over the entire breadth of this massive country is a recipe for trouble. It is inevitable that private industry cherry picks business and let's the USPS handle the letters to Nome.

The Postal service needs to cut their big pay to management..the Post master general makes more than the president, also they need to seriously look at where their waste is...they should not need to be going to the publics pockets for more money every year!!!!!they are always in the poor house!

If the FED wasn't requiring the PO to make 5 billion dollar payments to it each year, they would not even be in debt.thanks FED for causing it's downfall

I still rember the 2 cent stamp but those times are over. The postal service should raise rates based on profit. The posyal service should also work more like a buisness. Do away with excess waiste, and employees which thier are many oops thats a union job.
