What Is (and Isn't) in the Healthcare Bill

A good friend of mine sent me a statement that the Healthcare bill had a "real estate sales tax of 3.8%" buried into it and referred that this info came from your site. His example was on the sale of a $100,000 house.

In doing some research, I found that there is a somewhat complicated tax on much larger amounts but not on the small profits that most people would make. My point is: I already can't believe what the Democrats are DOING. Please...please don't make me question what the Republicans are SAYING by overstating the facts...it makes us look like alarmist do-nothings and arm waivers. AND, since we appear to be trying to take away a perceived benefit from the American public, we really should be spot-on with our facts. OK?

it is ok for the fat cat corrupt republicans who take back handers for blocking and repealing health care bills that are essential to the citizens of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, but they have private health care, they dont care about america, they are all still living under the one major corrupt lying president george w bush junior, yes we all remember that big big big lyer, who took back handers spent less time in the white house and in office, than he did on the lavetory. its about time these house republicans and the tea party realised people need health care and not excuses goid bless obama, god bless the usa

From everything I've read healcare reform looks pretty good to me. Everyone should pay for healthcare? I know it's a tough pill to swallow and it may be hard to inforce but consider the alternative...people using the emergency room as a doctors office. Forty percent (or more) of the nation's pop. does not have health insurance.

Give it up guys (repub's) this is a fight you're going to lose. You will lose the public - save the fight for another day.

Again the Republicans looking out for the fat cats: Wall Street, Health Care Insurance companies. Wait till the next election when the "facts" on this finally come out. The Repulicans will be purged from the system.

Wealth has many advantges over Poverty.Wealthy people can buy, the poor cannot bhealth.Let the rich take better treatment than the poor, but the latter should get the minimum health care facilities. The present health ccare programs Medicare and Medicaid are like news paper puzzles which persons like me who are eggheaded! cannot follow.SIMLIFY.. SIMPLIFY these paper rules

The Republicans were right on one thing back then.. Every one does have insurance all ready.. it's called the EMERGENCY ROOM

What they forget to mention is that most emergency rooms are filled to capacity by people with conditions resulting in NOT have preventive care.

People who wait and wait because they simply can't afford it.

.. and guess who picks up the tab from the emergency room visit? TAX PAYERS

I say give EVERYONE basic preventive and emergency care. It simply would cost us tax payers A LOT LESS.

Not to mention keeping people in good heath, also means many keeping their jobs and being productive further relieving tax payers.

Insurance companies would compete for more in depth health insurance as well as cosmetic health insurance ;-)

It would be a win, win, win situation

One word dhimmitude in the health care bill.

I've done a lot of research on this bill and it's sure to disappoint a lot of people. First, the bill is modeled after the Massachusetts bill passed in 2006. Massachusetts now has the highest premiums in the country and the highest rate of cost increase. (AICPA training that I recently attended)

Also, the bill places 16 million more Americans on Medicaid, a program where the doctors receive government reimbursements that are less than cost. The cost factor causes doctors to decline these patients, which means they will clog the emergency rooms. (recent AP story)

Interestingly enough, Britain is reversing course on its health care system and planning to decentralize. Problem is cost and national debt (sound familiar?) http://www.nytimes.com/2010/07/25/world/europe/25britain.html?_r=2&sq=britain&st=cse&adxnnl=1&scp=2&adxnnlx=1280149205-EXLXRZvYplupfynNUeefVA

For those interested in a lose of freedom, consider these words from Dr. Donald Berwick, Obama's recent recess appointment to head the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS): "I cannot believe that the individual health care consumer can enforce through choice the proper configurations of a system as massive and complex as health care. That is for leaders to do."

This system will not decrease cost, but we will lose freedom. Big time.

Wrong solution to a real problem.

Since when is it everyone else's responsibility to provide for the wants of all others in this society? We need to treat this "communal attitude" as the cancer it is. This is a frightening departure from the common sense approach of our Founders. If the government would get it's foot off of business and stop taxing us for every last thing (including the air we breath out -oh, and don't for get the gas we pass!) then we could provide for ourselves with ease. I am highly frustrated with the new mentality that pervades our society. The thought that "I deserve everything and others must give it to me or they are selfish or uncompassionate." What a bunch of muck. We all better relearn how to take care of ourselves unless we want to be living in a nanny state and have the government tell us how to eat, sleep and breath. Freedom and liverty were the answer in 1776 and they will always be the answer. Choose freedom over security and be at peace. Choose security over liberty and be a servant forever. Choose wisely America.

I think we all are going to have to wait and see if this has been a good call for health care reform. To early to judge right now!
