When can Congress really dialogue to work out a bipartisan piece of legislation instead of ramming through backroom deals?
The Stupak Amendment was passed with bi-partisan support in the House. The American people wants no part of federally-funded abortions and yet the same health care reform is being forced through without the Stupak Amendment.
Is this really listening to the American electorate?
Any Congressional legislator that dares to ignore the will of the people will pay dearly at the polls in November.

There are not 41 uncompromising, intransigent idiots on Capitol Hill. If you really introduce good legislation and address the other party's concerns someone will vote with you. Listen to the Republicans and consider their ideas. Then you'll be able to avoid the embarrassment of having to buy off your party members to vote for legislation. There are multiple liberal states with Republican Senators, a decent piece of legislation would easily be able to attract one of these. If legislation is bad enough Massachusetts votes a Republican in to stop it you won't gain anything forcing Republicans to filibuster.

Dems can either show the country some muscle and spine----or they can lose come November. They WILL NOT lose the voters for being bold and gutsy, because Republicans cannot run successfully in November on promises to repeal passed bills---when everyone knows the votes cannot be there to override Obama's veto of the repeals (were they even to get majorities in Congress).
But can you lose on being "centrist" wimps? Yes, you can. And somebody had better tell some nervous members about that before they give up OUR future in THEIR paralysis.
