IBSN Inc (Tony Wehrle CPA signed the tax return ) is also one of the cheater tax preparers. This company falsely claims itemized deductions and charge Tax payer huge amount on percentage of the refund basis. This company also charges fees for Tax audit representations. I received the inquiry from State Revenue department for disallowing the deductions; I contacted to IBSN to represent the case. They are not responding my or State Revenue department’s communications. I checked on internet; there are hundreds of complaints against this company www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/ibsn-tax-c182192.html.
What is IRS’s role in such matters? How this can be stopped?
What a poor individual tax payer can do against a big Tax preparer firm?

Took a big chunk of a fee out of a tax return that was neither authorized nor agreed to from the refund money and deposited it directly into their account.
I filed a police report, will sue for fraudulent practices, report to IRS and charge with felony. In State of Florida over $300 is not a misdemeanor but a felony.
Watch out people~~!!!! Do not let them take your money.

I wish that they would pass a law that makes it mandatory for all tax preparers to be licensed. I had a bad experience with Dunich-kolb in NJ. He charged us $1700 to prepare our taxes claiming that its a percentage of our refund, while he padded our total refund amount with a false claim, which the IRS caught on and denied. Have yet to see any refund from Dunich after not getting the full amount he said we would.

I agree with the Tax Preparer from Washington state.
If you do a few returns, do them honestly. These fruadulent schemes are far from the vast majority of preparers minds. They are too busy learning the correct way to prepare returns.
I to am in the same circumstanses as Leslie of Washington.

I am a tax preparer on the side and expected to continue to do this when I retired. Now it is very doubtful that I will continue. The annual continuing education is ridiculous - especially ethics. You know a tax scam is unethical, and an annual 2 hour course will not affect your behavior one iota. It opens up a brand new business - continuing ed for tax preparers.
I do only 20 returns a year - not that many. I can research issues without going through a continuing ed course and still prepare good returns.
So small, conscientious preparers will be driven out of business, leaving more for the big boys to handle. I do not charge very much for my services, and that is good for the low income folks that I generally work with.
Prosecute the bad apples. Keep a database of bad apples. That's fine. The licensing and continuing education is overkill.

A local tax preparer in Mayfield heights, Ohio got several 21 years old's $6k in refunds each even though they only made $10k at the restruant. However, the last couple of refunds have been 'on hold' by the IRS so I think they are on to that lady. We told them something didn't seem right since they have no kids and make the same as the other servers. Looks like we were right, except the first 8 had their refunds and spent the money. The other two are "on hold".
