Chamber of Commerce Considering EPA Lawsuit

i read Fox news so, i am worried that global warming is a scam like the Y2K scam ten years ago.

Fox news:

To rely on Congress to manage climate change is silly. The EPA have bona fide experts in the field of Climate change whereas congress is simply an elected body with no scientific degrees to actually support their own respective expert opinion on the matter. It's a very bizarre request that in my view shows how blatently corrupt the US Chamber of Commerce has become.

I have come to the conclusion that any measure favored by the US Chamber of Commerce would be a disaster for America, and that any they oppose would be a good thing overall.

Of course the Chamber of Commerce wants carbon dioxide emissions regulated by Congress and not the EPA. It's so much easier to bribe members of Congress.

There's much to agree with in Walsh's article detailing what Tom Donohue said. Who can argue with jobs creation, increasing exports, and the like as objectives for business and government?

However, sue the EPA? This strong-arm tactic of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce under Donohue has the ring of the familiar to it for a good reason. The U.S. Chamber, proponents of the one-sided "if it's good for business, it's good for us" bromide we've all heard for decades, ran ads just about everywhere during the run-up to health care reform's all but death. The ads were a big reason (not the only one, though) that health care reform will arrive, as it surely will, a jerry-built, eviscerated monstrosity guaranteed to need further work, infusions of capital, and more. Health care reform as conceived earlier, those like Donohue and his well-heeled Chamber cohorts reasoned, was definitely bad for business interests. Never mind that it might've been good for just plain folks, it was bad for business, and that's all that really matters.

Many of us have been on the health care reform bandwagon ever since reading Joseph Califano's excellent book on the need for health care reform, Radical Surgery, published 15 years ago. We knew what the problems would be, thanks to Califano, and we were well prepared for battle. What we were not prepared for, perhaps, are the tactics to undermine all GOOD possibilities used by interests far less informed than we. Dirty tactics. Selfish tactics. The tactics of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, for instance.

Now the dirty tacticians say sue the EPA maybe. Man the battle stations, those of you who have been into global warming as a threat. The EPA and its regulations are not good for business. And that's that. Shame on the rest of us for not knowing the most important element in any argument: what's good for business.

One of the folks who commented on Walsh's article before I did probably had it right. Donohue and his crew want the whole matter in the hands of the bribable: the U.S. Congress. As I said, man the battle stations!

Where does the EPA gain it's, as if they are different from us, power? Is it Congress that gave them that "power" which is being abused?

CO2 !!!!

Throw in See-arrow Club and NPR for a little boot will ya. I love my tree as much as you do but I breath out CO2, how about you? Is there anything left to tax? And who do you think wants a cap and tax bill more than the UN? The UN wants "their" fair share of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to give to the third world countries/dictators cause they love em so.

Global Warming is pure chicken dung. Haven't you been outside in the last month? Are you totally stupid? Mini-Ice age coming down the road-- best learn to ski.

The air is clean enough for me, I live in a place where is is one of the worst. Worried about health? Well heck, we got free health care direct from your bro Bahama soon enough--why worrie? NY wants to regulate salt!!!!!!

God when will it stop????

I'm tard, go-in home to Norco, CA.. the NUT state featuring; Madam Boxer!

PoliticalRectum of CA 3:24AM January 14, 2010

The EPA is doing Exactly what it is mandated to do, Protect our environment. Donohue is a nut who should be supporting ways for businesses to grow and save on energy too. He'd rather see Congress in control because he knows he and other business interests would have a chance to Buy Off Congress but not the EPA. Donohue is a slime ball in my opinion.

teri of WA 10:57PM January 13, 2010

has this congress accomplised any thing signifant?

i don't think the two parties could jointly aggree to come out of the rain.

so what good would a law suit serve.....their legal staffs would continue to get richer and the poor tax payer would foot the bill.

this problem is best solved by trained and qualifed men of science, NOT politcians.

J.K. NOWAK of OH 8:49PM January 13, 2010

what on earth they're talking about when they suggest re-building infrastructure with "private funds"? Wanna pay too much for water, roads and energy---like you pay too much for health care with the help of "private funds" putting up the facilities?

Care to know what they have in mind on expanding credit to businesses? Hey, the C of C can't get big banks' attention? Or they want the good ole government to feather the business nest?

Care to know what their idea of "leaving productive capital in the economy means? Tax cuts for the wealthiest-----again?

muser of NM 8:37PM January 13, 2010

So when injured consumers sue a business, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce calls it "lawsuit abuse." What is it called when the U.S.Chamber of Commerce sues?
