A Year of Mixed Results for Obama

Obama made promises out one side of his mouth, hiding the fact that he was a liberal with a hidden agenda. Bush might have been an idiot, and a fool for that, but he was at least open about being an idiot.

The Democrats want to give every illegal, undocumented alien citizenship, freehealthcare, expand welfare ->all by cutting Medicare, which seniors have earned, and the disabled get.

The Republicans want the illegal imigrants to keep pouring in, to keep wages down and people struggling for every dollar.

Where and when do we, the American people, get an honest leader who will do, say and act in our best interests, not the lobbyists, not the foreign interests [buy chinese goods!], and finally stop the bleeding.

Thats what I want to know.

"Liberals tend to just laugh at me because they've heard this before, but they never answer it either. Name ONE industry that the government has either taken over the regulation or operation of that runs better now than it did before they took it over..."

Obviously, you don't even know any liberals (or progressives, Democrats, or real conservatives).

Name ONE industry that the government has deregulated that runs better now than it did before.

Banks? Insurance? Mortgage? Credit? Oil? Telephone?

Health Care?

Janus Daniels of UT 2:22AM January 16, 2010

I agree with David of OK. Why should a few select (Republican)states receive Government paid health care and the rest of us end up paying for their care as well as our own. It should be equal and fair for all. This health care bill should never be passed in its current form, and the people should be allowed to participate in the legislative process before it becomes a bill. We are not so dumb that we don't know what's going on, but apparently the Senate and House believe they have us fooled. Dream on!

For the leftward swaying reader that calls the public "misinformed" yes you are soo correct, the public was misinformed on just what this Obamao stood for and what he would do to this country. Are you so blind and "misinformed" not to see facts like Obama will spend more on welfare in 2010 than the ENTIRE IRAQ WAR cost? Are you so informed that you believe these clowns when they say you can add 30 million folks to a program, and it won't cost a dime?

Are you so informed that you think 500 BILLION dollars in cuts to Medicare will be good for seniors and not lead to rationing of care? Are you so informed as to believe that the stimilis money created 650,000 jobs? Well, it created jobs to an extent, yes, governemnt jobs which will only further bankrupt this country.Do you even know we are 12 trillion in debt right now? Do you know that it is unconstitutional for Congress to EVER force ANYONE to buy anything? Are you so informed that you see the SEnate going by the rules and trying to work with both parties? Well hiding behind locked doors which was on TV by the way, isnt my idea of a proper government. And 1 last thing, are you so informed that you think with 85% of "working folks" happy with their medical insurance, that our system is so bad? Why do all the wealthier folks and even working class folks from other countries come HERE to get healthcare? When is the last time you heard of a 65 year old American saying he is going to Pakistan or India or Cuba for his heart transplant? WELL? Inform yourself , get off the hope and change garbage its ruining our country.

The problem that most people have us not with the fact that Washington wants to "reform" healthcare. The problem is that congress is not trying to reform it they're trying to make it government run and regulated.

Liberals tend to just laugh at me because they've heard this before, but they never answer it either. Name ONE industry that the government has either taken over the regulation or operation of that runs better now than it did before they took it over... And you wonder why we don't want the government to take over another 1/6th of our economy.

The problem is that instead of writing simple legislation that address the problems in our current system they're bringing in massive unreadable bills that cover all kinds of ridiculous minute details, as well as including a whole bunch of stuff that does not belong in a health reform bill!

Why are they basically paying people off to get them to vote for the legislation? Is it so bad that the democrats can't even get a party-line vote through without bribing people?

As soon as we have a truely bipartisan bill with no bribes or other tomfoolery in it I'm willing to sign up, but the currently proposed bills are simply a disgrace.

This administration, I feel, cares more about responsibility than popularity.

Our contorted health care system is screwed up, and the only responsible choice is to fix it before it gets even worse. Even though the media is focused on the problems with the health care legislation, it is better to do the responsible thing and reap long-term rewards than to score short-term points by going along with the misinformed public's opinion.

The public is like a herd of sheep - running from left to right based on what screamer they see on tv last.

Over 70% of the public not on Medicare want change. Most just don't like to see decent legislation twisted by special interests.

When Medicare (1960's)and Social Security (1940's)were passed, the Republicans said we would all go to h#!!and turn into "commies". Ronnie Raygun even made a "fear" record to encourage all to fear change. Now - Nobody I know over 65 wants to lose either protection to disappear. Why? Because they work, and keep seniors from sleeping under bridges in cardboard boxes.

The "libs" wanted to make this available to all Americans. To improve American healthcare (currently 40th or worse in the world). To make it more affordable, as healthcare costs are rising at 5 times the rate of inflation. To make it reliable-not ever cancelled based on the conditions that you buy health insurance for to begin with. To make it transportable so folks between jobs would have coverage. Seniors already have this.

Who didn't want this? Those who are whipped into fear and mistrust and ignorance and misinformation by special interests who are making $billions off the system just the way it is. Where were these folks when the medical plan with the famous "doughnut hole" was passed by the Right? Counting the extra money they make off that new legislation while others buy overpriced medications.

Those who watch FOX only never hear the "rest of the story", as Paul Harvey used to say. The answers are obvious - the USA has great healthcare for the wealthy, for seniors, and ranks below Morocco for everyone else. As the supposed "leader of the West", this is a poor example indeed. Hard for us to tell others how to live all the time when we don't even take care of our wn citizens properly. Japan, Israel, Europe, Canada, Australia, and many other nations have universal healthcare AND pay half as much percapita for a better overall result. I have lived where these systems are used, and received excellent service - without paperwork, without delays, without invoices.

I am a moderate - not a "lib" overall, but on this topic I am left of center. Some folks say they hate big government. If tht's your concern, then cancel all defense contracts, all military healthcare, all government employee coverage, all contractor jobs. My taxes pay for those too....$600 Billion in the 2009 budget. If we paid the MIC less, we might be able to help our people.....

Dorfy of SC 12:01AM January 02, 2010

Why does the administration not listen to the public regarding thier lack of desire for a change in the health cares system. Sixty four percent don't what a change. Yet the Oboma people will not listen. I would like for some lib to explain this to me.
