I feel the US State Department shouls make it a priority to pressure the goverment Of Iran to release the three American youhs whon they have imprisoned without cause. Some important member of dthe Cabinet or possibly Bill Clinton should visit Iran, he was successful before in getting a prisoner released in similar circumstances. How dare they arrest Americans who cerainly cannot do any harm, they are not armed, it is ridiculous to imprison them and they should not be allowed to hold them.

What kind of Berkely graduate takes up back packing near war zones and international borders without GPS or even a good map and compass? If they are totally innocent, they have to be as stupid a trio of "innocent hiker" as ever walked the earth. I guess we will not be reading any more of Shane's reporting on Death Squads in the middle east for a while. I am not totally without pity, but I can not totally blame Iran for putting them on trial to get the facts of who they are and what they may have been doing where they were. It strains common sense. These probably are not American spies. I assume we hire and train more competent people. They aren't the ugly Americans. They are probably just the stupid Americans. I hope their misadventure does not bring them to real harm.
