I would rather worry about the CEO of health insurance company's salaries. There is little competition in the health sector and plenty of competition in colleges. You can look around and find good value in a liberal arts college and what you get there will last a lifetime. Insurance companies will take your money your whole life and then abandon you when you get a condition.

I don't know why I read the comments on these articles - I guess I'm just surprised that so many ignorant people read U.S. News. A pay czar? Seriously? All of these presidents combined make less than the Christmans bonus of one CEO of the Wall Street companies that have been in the news. And, of course, ALL colleges must be extremely liberal, THAT'S why they pay their presidents so much, because conservatives would NEVER be so crass as to accumulate wealth. It would be positively un-capitalistic to accumulate wealth, only socialists do nasty un-American things like that (sarcasm, just in case you're too stupid to get it). And Dr(?) Adams - may want to run spell check and learn capitalization rules if you want people to believe you're a doctor. I only have a lowly bachelor's and I can construct a proper sentence!

These guys are hired for their perceived ability to raise funds and for little else. A president who is able to bring in big bucks may well be worth a cushy salary.

these salaries paid to these people with millions of dollars yearly ,or to anyone for that matter is like corruption in the open.

Colleges Presdients MUST EARN their Salaries and Not Just Get the High Pay because of the TITLES of President.

Dr T. L. Adams, Th. D. of Urban Academy, SM of FL 8:09PM November 02, 2009

Million Dollar Salries may be justified in may cases, But Defintely NOT in All Cases.

Colleges Presdients MUST EARN their Salries and Not Just Get the High Pay because of the TITLES of President.

The Employment Duties should show whay how and what constitutes continued salry ranges for Colleges just as American Business Models or We are Taching teh WRONG Lessons to our Students.

Dr Tim Adams, Th. D. of FL 8:05PM November 02, 2009

Obama should appoint a tzar to look into this. What's good for corporate America is certainly as good for our education industry and it is an industry.

Health care costs have gone up but the cost of higher education has increased much more.

In addition one must question what is taught in these coleges. They most certainly lean to the extreme left.
